Grinding the tight curves on blanks.

Yeah that's what had me thinking drum. Square grind.

Of course a small contact wheel on a horizontal belt would be much much faster and better. Some day I'll be ready to buy another grinder lol. Just not yet :)

KMG small wheel attachment is the way to go. I use a 3/4, 5/8, and 1/2 inch sized wheels.

I rough (and I do mean rough) cut the profile with my upright Porta-Band, then use the 8" KMG wheel to refine the profile. As stated above, you can run the belt slightly off to one side of the wheel and get close on those inside curves. Then I use the small wheel to refine them.

While the small wheel holder, tooling arm, and a couple of sizes of small wheels may seem expensive................... Look at it another way. Just make a couple of knives and sell them using your current methods............. Wa-La......... You now have enough to buy the small wheel package.

I already invested 6k or so into this, so I'm in it for the long haul. So as you said as I sell knives I'll continue to add extra tools I need. For now I'll use some harbor freight drill press drums. And buy those wheels as I can. Thanks everyone!
