Just something that i have tried recently. For running through the finer grit belts I just give the belt a good dunk in my cooling bucket. The belt stays wet way longer than I expected. It lets me use a lot more pressure without burning the blade. I am super happy with my machine finish now. I didn't think I was going to be able to do wet grinding in my little shop because of the mess but this works really good. The belts curl like crazy after though.

Nice tip! I've had great luck turning my VFD down to like 15-20HZ on a 1750rpm motor with a 7" drive wheel. No burnt tips or overheating. Mostly using 400 and 800 grit AO.

I have tried turning the speed down or running fast with light pressure. I think that the AO belts work best with some pressure and it's easy to burn them when your running dry. You get about 5 minutes of grinding with a soaked belt. That's about all you need.
