OK Guys I have some time to take off in Jan. I am hoping to hook up with someone who would be
willing to watch me or walk me through some flat grinding. I have blanks cut out and can bring belts.
My solo learning curve is bad. PM me if you have some time. I am in Valdosta, Ga. Willing to travel some distance
Thanks
Tom

Tom have you thought about investing in this video, it may be all you need to turn the tide my friend. If nothing else pans out you could have Harvey in your shop helping you out, it really is a good video.

Videos are excellent, of course, but one can usually benefit from having someone else be able to watch and offer specific pointers in areas of difficulty such as the plunge.

Tom and I exchange a lot of emails, but there's only so much coaching one can do over the internet. He has watched videos, too. I urged Tom to try and find someone who can watch him and give pointers.

I hope someone in his area can offer some time. It can frequently be wonderfully productive to spend even one afternoon with another maker. Someone on the "outside" can often see one little part of the process that could use a modification and change everything.

Not saying that video is bad but it DOES NOT help much! I watched it twice and sold it. You may get one or two things from it but nothing that will really TEACH you how to grind. Definately find someone to help you.
