No sir. The work rest is parallel with the ground. The fixture holds the workpiece at a 90 to the rest. The platen on the KMG is adjustable and can be angled up or down. You adjust the platen to your desired angle . . . this is also how I grind my final edge, although I do it freehand against the angled platen.

Much easier to adjust the work rest on my homemade grinder, now that I have a work rest. Hopefully I'll give this jig a try this week. Thanks guys.
