griptilian, endura, or recon 1

Ankerson nailed it in the first reply, that is, IF the original poster means the same thing by rough use that Jim does.

To really answer the question accurately, spydercomil would have to describe in detail what sort of "rough use" he plans to give his new knife, and how important the other factors like pocket profile, weight, edgeholding, etc are to him.

By rough use I mean would it be good for extended light weight camping trips, not including batoning, edc with weight not being an issue, a hunting and fishing knife, and possibly light prying. I would also take this with me when I join the army, so maybe self defence?, but im sure if I ever needed this for self defense im screwed anyway.
P.S. how would a lawman do?
P.P.S. or a kershaw blur in s30v?

The prying is what makes it rough use. All the other tasks are easily handled by all 3 knives, but the prying is probably best handled by the Recon, due both to tip thickness and toughness of the steel used in the blade, not to mention the killer strong lock.

Would you spend extra because they are better or because where they were made? Other people say the recon 1 is great and tougher than the other two, so why?

I would spend extra money because they are better, because of where they are made, because of the reputations of the companies, etc.

There are a lot more options with the BM and Spyder. I prefer satin blades, you can get different colored handles, and also the option for a smaller version. I also doubt that the axis lock copy on the recon 1 is any better than BM's axis or Spyder's back lock. Sure, you get G10 with the cold steel, but if you are interested in nice materials you arent gonna be looking at cold steel anyway.

Anything that would break a BM Grip or Spyder Endura is gonna break the Recon 1 at some point too. Also you would have to misuse them to break any one of them anyway.

I'd take the Endura over the Griptillian any day. I felt the Grip was to thick for EDC pocket carry even though I did it for a year straight, traded the Griptillian off and haven't missed it. Can't comment on the Cold steel knife.

I definitely concour to that statement.

Well, any other opinions? Do you have any other knives that would fit this criteria? All opinions appriciated.

Please take a look at the Kershaw RAM. It's a bit smaller than those knives, but it's in the same price range. Also, it's got a great lock, deploys faster, has better ergonomics and a G10 handle.

If you don't get that, I'd recommend the griptilian, preferably the D2 edition.
