Griptilian or paramilitary 2?

Para 2.

have both, griptilians speed can't be beat by the para 2, BUT the build/materials/feel/ergos of the para 2 are unbelievable, plus a better steel and g10. Go with a camo para 2 :)

 Grip for general use

 Para2 to fend off a pitbull or larger menace

I tried to edc 2 knives at a time to cover the bases but it was cumbersome. Now I edc one (rotating) and hope for the best. Although my pockets may be under-equipped, in my car is a whole 'nuther world of options.

Alright the decision is made. I'm getting a para2. I have never ordered a knife online, I really don't want to pay MSRP for it. Can anyone recommend a great place to get one for a first online buy?

Also is the para2 reasonably easy to sharpen? I have a V style sharpener with a 22 and 15 degree angles. A medium and a fine corse rods. Thanks again.

I get a lot of my Spydercos from Howe's Knife Shop. They (Jim and Barbara) are fantastic to deal with, support BladeForums with a dealer membership, and have very good prices with free shipping on all orders. They also have all but the Black G-10/Satin blade version of the Para 2 currently in stock:

Regarding sharpening, it'll depend on your equipment of course, but if you have a Spyderco Sharpmaker or something equivalent -- I assume this is what you meant by a V-style sharpener -- you shouldn't have any trouble touching up/maintaining the sharpness of an S30V blade. If you want to do any serious rebeveling, then it would be time to look at something like an Edge Pro, DMT Aligner, etc.

I can recommend Knifeworks and NewGraham as excellent places to purchase online.
I also think you made the right decision going with the para2.

You have already made your decision but I don't think ergonomics can be anything but opinion. Everyone has different hands and various knives will fit different from person to person. I love my Para but my fingers wrap around the knife and it feels a little small. The handle on the grip fills the hand better and has a stronger tip most likely. Since you already have a grip I think you made the right choice.

One more vote for Para 2!

This goes a bit off topic... But now that you know that the Para 2 is the way to go. Instead of going with that, look for the original Paramilitary. I think with all it's flaws it's got even more personality. Hell of a fun knife!!:)

I own both. If I lost my Para 2 I'd buy another the same day. If I lost my Griptilian, I'd go buy another Para 2.

Are we talking plain jane Para 2 versus a custom grip? Because I'd take a Ritter Grip with custom handle over a Para 2, but I'd go Para 2 over a regular grip. But the Para 2 is much cheaper.

I think you made a good choice, honestly. Spydies are a separate addiction all to their own, although I vastly prefer the Manix 2 to any of their other models. It carries a lot more like the griptilian, and it's one of the most comfortable knives I've ever carried. Not sure why everyone says the Para 2 is more comfortable than the griptilian; I didn't find it so at all, and keep going back to the SFO to handle one to see if I can figure out the hype. But I have medium size hands, and perhaps the Para2 would be better for someone with larger hands?
