Griptilian Pardue vs Ritter

They are all good knives, it's mostly minor differences. The Ritter blade profile is a better slicer than the 551, about equal to the 550. The pointy tip on the 551 is better for picking splinters and thorns out with. I am in the minority, but I don't like Benchmade's S30V steel. Too chippy in my experience. YMMV... FWIW the black coating on the few coated Grips I've had has worn pretty quickly, the plain blades don't show the scuffs as much.

Admittedly I don't own a Ritter, it just never appealed to me, so Pardue gets my vote.

The 551 was my first "expensive" knife and the 555 is my all time favorite small knife.

I have to admit that I really do like the S30V on my Ritter. However, 154CM is my fav all time Benchmade steel. They seem to do 154 just perfectly!

If the Ritter came in D2 it would be a perfect knife. I, like many others, don't love Benchmade's S30V.

If you can stand the coating I would get the Cabela's 551 Grip in D2. It is the only knife that I regret selling and I am currently looking to replace it.

Bzzzzzt. ;) The best Ritter was the original M2 version. Benchmade had M2 down to a combination of art and science.
