I can't do a search so i was wondering if it's not too much trouble you guys can offer your thoughts

what do you think of the mini griptilian?
more specifically this one

since buying my friend a knife (and getting the same one for myself) i'm now addicted and want more grrrrrr ... and since the 930 is my first good knife (one that i can afford) .. i found myself babying the thing and scared to use it or blunt it.. so how i need another one .. one that i can use :)

so what do u guys think about this one ?

is it well balanced..
the blade
feel
working

basically the good and bad of whatever u can think of

Good is everything in any way.

Bad is simply the knowledge about the handles material, some ppl. wish G10.

It is one of the verybest small folders eversince.

I edc'd that same knife for about 4 years... I never had any problem with it at all... easy to keep the edge up, and holds it for a good while too.
The axis lock is a great lock imo.. Just the right size to be able to clip it into the front watch pocket on blue jeans... In all, well made and priced right too.

I've used 'em off and on for several years for warehouse work, outdoor yard/garden stuff, hiking/camping... they do it all. They really are great knives. Very tough and the 154CM version is easy to bring back to an extremely sharp edge.

The AXIS lock in the Grips works very smoothly and is a solid and secure lock, they are fully ambidextrous, and I find the blade shape on the 154CM Grips to be a good all-around shape for a variety of tasks. I don't even mind the FRN scales on the mini-Grips. Both sizes are very secure to hold, although I find that the mini-Grips leave me just short of a full four-finger grip on the handle. I'd like to see either G10 or a more solid FRN on the larger Grips, but that's just personal preference. It has nothing to do with the knife's function.

The Mini-Grips are good everyday utility knives, but the handle is just a bit too short for my taste.
Otherwise the design is very nice and functional.

so you recommend the full size one over the mini grip?

i was also wondering.. do you have to buy the toolbox from benchmade or can you get their screwdrivers from any hardware store?

Yeah, I prefer the full-sized one over the mini.
But then you only get partial steel liners instead of full-length liners, and you get that awful hollow plastic "clack" when you open and close it.
The full-size Grips cut great and work fantastic, but they sound and feel cheap.

I get my tools from the hardware store.

Yes, the pocket clip and scale screws take a T6 torx driver and the pivot takes a T10.

I like Sears Craftsman ones they run about 2.50 each.

As others have said it is a great knife. It was my EDC before my Sebbie and it still sometimes finds it way into my pocket.

Benchmade does 154 steel the best. I use my 555HG a lot when doing yard work. Yesteday I dug up weeds with it. At the end of the day it was all gunked up with mud. The axis lock system still worked perfectly. Rinsed it off and after a couple of strokes on the Sharpmaker it was good as new. The Grip is a real beater. It is sorta like the Glock 9mm of the knife world.

Great knife. I have the Mini mainly because I rotate on my EDC knives and they have to be 3" or under.

If there is a Home Depot near you, get one of their Husky 8-in-1 Torx drivers. I've had Benchmade's blue box and Craftsman's Torx drivers and they both were awful in their own ways (the Blue Box's drivers were soft and bent easily; the Craftsman drivers were perfect steelwise, but had easy-break handles).

I also prefer the larger Grip over the smaller, and for the same reason: I can't get a full purchase, the pinky always hangs off the end. I've a bunch of Benchmades but one of my fave's is the plain old 551 in 154CM. It keeps a great edge and is nearly bombproof.

It goes clipless in either a large BM pouch or in my watch pocket.
