I just bought some Mylar backed artificial grit sanding paper and I was wondering if anyone can tell me the grit translations into the equivalent for like regular sand paper

320 sil
150 sil
600 ALO
400 ALO
280 Garnet

I could be mistaken, but it looks like those are regular grits. The letters on the end are just the vendor's abbreviation for the type of abrasive (silicon carbide, aluminum oxide, and garnet). SiC is what is most of my wet/dry paper uses. Garnet frequently shows up on wood sandpaper. AO is used on paper for both wood and metal.

I highly doubt it because the 280 Garnet feels almost as smooth as paper... while the 320 Sil is decently rough.

Why don't you call the folks you got it from and have them clarify for you?
