I've been making my knives mostly with handtools. I just ordered a 2x72 grinder and I'm not sure what grits or type( brown, blue, ceramic?) of belts I should order to start with? Will 1 belt do an average 4"long .125" blade. I'm excited to get started and thanks for your opinion.

Be sure and get a norton hogger belt in a 50 or 80 grit(for profiling and roughing in the grind). They get the job done quick and will last a long time. Aluminum oxide in 120, 220, 400 and 600 would be a good order. Just play around with the different types. Trugrit is where I get mine and they don't mind you ordering a few of each to try them out. Good luck
Jon
