New to the forum. I was wanting to build the NO WELD GRINDER. The 10inch serrated wheel is practically most of the cost. I know you get what you pay for in most cases. However I have never used one. In attempmting to locate other brands or types I came across the Grizzly wheel. Will that work well? or will I later lose that investment because I found out theyre no good and end up buying the one I should have bought in the first place...Please Help.

Mods, please move.

anywho

It is a decent wheel

You will have to take it to a machine shop and have it drilled and have the bearing races put in

most likely cost around $50.00 for that

but ya its a pretty good deal

I understand trying to save cash but you really won't regret getting a good quality wheel. I'm grinding on an 8" Wilton wheel and it still works just fine for being 20+ years old. Granted its a little bit harder durometer now but they will definetely pay for themselves in the long run.

I used a 10" Griz wheel on my grinder. Works great. Instead of fitting bearings into the wheel, I fitted a shaft and then used pillow block bearings to hold the shaft. Here's a couple of pics to help explain. The shaft does need to have a shoulder for the wheel to snug up against. Try to find a machine shop that will give you a good deal or a friend with a lathe.
