I recently purchased another belt sander and don't need this one anymore. It's fairly new ( April 2024) and works perfectly.
This is the perfect grinder for someone just starting or not wanting to spend a bunch of money on one at the moment. I used this as my one and only sander for all my knives since I've started!
Includes a bunch of upgrades that I purchased from
Contender Machine
here on Blade Forums-
I bought a
5x12 inch work rest- much more room to work with and is very solid compared to the one it came with which is also included.
Drop down work rest arm. Allows for more access to the platen to allow better use of a grinding jig. Only tilts backwards 15 degrees. Does not tilt forward more than a few degrees.
Flat platen. 2x5.25x1/4 inch mild steel. Mounts with 2 flathead screws. This is much better than the one that came with it but that is also included as well.
Pair of platen brackets. These allow side to side as well as forward to back adjustment of the platen. They also allow better access to the left side of the platen in comparison to the factory platen
Small wheel attachment. These are made to run the standard small wheels available from several suppliers.
I bought two small wheels from Jantz that cost me about $100 for the two.
Also includes 47 belts, many of which are ceramics, aluminum oxide, and a bunch of Compact grain higher grit belts from Red label abrasives. Some of which are new!
Includes all the original parts that came with the sander, including some of the guards which I took off (makes changing the belts way easier)
The only thing I did with this machine is cut off the guard over the top spindle. It was always in the way when changing the belts so I did away with it. Doesn't affect the performance obviously.
TOTAL these grinders go for over $400 and I paid $190 in upgrades, $100 in small wheels, and over $2-300 in includes belts. I have at least $900 in this whole package.
ONLY SELLING ALL OF IT FOR $SOLD local pickup near savannah GA or I'll try to ship it to you if you pay shipping- would probably cost about $75 to $100 to ship.
