Hi All,
I have had an issue come up this afternoon. I have grizzly and the rubber on part of the contact wheel has come loose (wow that's Rough runnning). Anyone know what I can use to re-attach? Don't want to mess this up.

Thanks,
NS6

Thanks for the link Mike, I need to order another wheel for backup. Unfortunately I can't wait, I have kydex sheath orders I should be finishing tonight.

I am thinking JB Weld or Gorilla Glue or ? I know it needs to be thin and strong, maybe some type of mastic?

Anyone have a quick but reliable fix?

Thanks,
NS6

Edit to add: How about shoe goo? That's the best thing I have heard.

Send it back, after calling them. They will replace it, and balance the new one as well.

You might want to order a 10 inch wheel at the same time. The larger wheel gives you clearance for the left side grinds.

After emailing back and forth to Grizzly they are telling me I can order a new one for $28.50. The Grinder is a 2002 model so it kind of bothers me that they aren't standing behind it. On the other hand I am so new to this it may be my fault, I don't know. I am mostly flat grinding on a pyroceram platen though so I can't figure out how I would cause this issue, Anyone? I have used the wheel VERY little in profiling, but only on wooden lattice strip practice knives.

Anyway, I think I am going to order a new one, try to fix the old one and then save up for the Rob Frink slow down wheel I have been planning on for months and then get the 10" too.

When I get to the end of that hopefully it will act as a little Murphy repellant.

Thanks again,
NS6

Your best bet is to send it to Contact Rubber Corp., and have them resurface it.
At the same time you can ask them to use 70-80 durometer rubber. That will make for a better finishing wheel, and longer lasting too.

:D

Once my replacement stock wheel gets here, does anyone know a balpark cost to resurface? I like the looks and think I'd like to try a serrated wheel.

Thanks, NS6

You might want to call CRC and ask them. After you get a price on what you want, Call Tru Grit and ask them also.
Tru Grit is a distributor for CRC, and for some reason you get a better price going through them, than dealing direct. At least on new wheels.
Either way, you will get a much better wheel from them, once it's recovered, than Grizzly supplies.

CRC = 1-262-857-2361

Tru Grit =1-800-532-3336

Try putting some krazy glue on the area where it is separated.
We used to glue our tires on 1/8 scale radio control race cars with it.They were turning 15 grand.
Might work Might not??

NightStalker6...

When I got my belt grinder,,,I was contacted my a older member here on BLADE FORUM who adviced me to take some electrical tape and cover the wheel, , and then tape a thicker spot over the middle of the wheel to help the belts track better...

The other day, just for something to do, I stripped off all the old tape and looked at the wheel, it's still in mint condition.

I retaped the wheel and it works great...
