Would any of you guys who have a Grizzly 2x72 mind sharing a picture of your setup? I'm trying to figure out what to set it on (bench or separate table/stand) and how close to the edge to mount it, etc...

I'm also trying to figure out where to put the water.

My well used Grizzly:

If I had to change anything, I'd have it set up so that both the wheel and the buffer were over open air. There are times when I've used the bottom of the wheel to remove scale from longer stock, and the bench does get in the way from how it's mounted.

Thanks a lot Nathan! That's very helpful. I was wondering the same thing, if having the wheel in the open air wouldn't make sense.

For 99% of what you do, it won't be a problem at all. It's just that 1% that bothers you ;). With the wheel in open air, you can also place a catch bucket with water under the wheel for sparks/dust.

I don't do much grinding... the grizzly gets it all done for me...

And rig up some belt hangers, too...

Thanks for all your help guys! Doc, you're right. Luckily it's just over an inch, so if you align the foot with the end of the bench it still should be usable. I'll check it out when I get home.

Will it make it unstable by moving to the edge of say that Shop Fox table that Nathan has his on?

Mine's dismantled at the moment, so I can't post pics, but it's mounted on a table built of 4x4 legs, 2x6 top frame, and doubled 3/4" plywood top. The grinder is mounted with the edges of the foot almost flush with the front right corner. It is a little unstable, only because I made the stand's frame too narrow and too shallow. It's about 18" x 20" at the floor.

Based on my own mistake, I'd recommend at least a 30" x 30" frame for the stand.

the hammers are on there because there is some drying glue under the tool rest. the wood is only temporary until I get a chance to cut my aluminum one.

I ended up making a table, its still a little high high for me but someone here recommended a heavy table, so I reinforced a tabletop I found in the parking lot at work, put some legs on it and it works great. i made it long enough to fully recline the arm to use the contact wheel more easily. I also had to build an adjustable tool rest (releases by loosening 2 allen bolts) because the one that comes with it is too flimsy, if you want to use a tool rest I would recommend a table you can bolt one to.
