nice. i assume you do your own heat treat? what's the RC?

pic requests: in hand pic and a pic of the cord harness.

No, I don't heat treat stainless - I have TKS do it. I don't have a hardness tester, but they aim for 58-59 for most steels. I've never asked if S30V was different. Something I forgot to mention was that these are cryo-treated as well, which is the one thing in 12 yrs of knifemaking that's made the most improvement for me in terms of edge holding.

I test my knives on deer - I don't believe the medium matters much, as long as you have a baseline and the tests are basically the same every time. Nowadays I can process a deer without re-sharpening - I average 3-10 each year, between mine and family (I'm sure most makers can accomplish this modest feat - it's just the baseline I've chosen between a useful knife and a not-so-useful one). I can shave hair when I'm done, but it no longer pops off my arm (apologies if you dislike this method of edge testing - I've been doing it this way since I was little). I do everything w/my knife (no saws, etc), although I do try to avoid cutting hair and bone (except for the sternum, which I like to open because I find it gives me more room to maneuver). I also quarter by cutting through the joints, which always necessitated re-sharpening with my older stainless blades (pre-cryo). Not anymore.

Sorry if this is TMI.

Also, I haven't made harnesses for either (until someone says they want one), but here are some quick pics of mine - just 550 cord, some rubber tubing, and patience. No reason you couldn't make one yourself, except not wanting to spend the time and effort.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like you get your inspiration from the late Rob Simonich.

Great work:thumbup:, and I regret being broke:grumpy::p

Yeah, it's hard to be completely original. I end up taking some from one maker and something else from another. Every once in a while I come up with something I've never seen before, but It's hard to say. Most of the inspiration for these came from a similar design on this site that I saw last year - I don't remember the maker, but I think his handles were swept down instead of up, and the knives were larger, combat style. I'm just now getting around to trying the pattern out.

Thanks for the comments.

Tito,

I have looked at the pictures of your knives more than a few times, and they look well designed and executed. If I were in the position to buy one, the only request I would make of you is to round the pointy butt a little bit for being able to grip the knife further back or hold it in a reverse grip. Excellent looking work

That sir is what my idea of a modern hunting knife should look like:thumbup:
Any chance of a spine shot to see the handle contours?

Here's the handle contours. The black was 1/4" material, and the green was 3/8".

Jeff, thanks much for the comments. I designed the butt to be a skull-crusher, but I can fix it for you pretty quick:)

I've been looking around - I think I have these priced a little high. Price changed to $185 shipped, Paypal or $ order, don't worry about the 3% for CC.

thanks for looking.

I think you did an excellent job of design and workmanship  for an 8.5" knife, both knife and sheath look extremely durable.

The knife looks very usable, great handle shape from the pictures. The kydex sheath suits the knife very well and combination of carry positions :)

I would put that one in your base catalog, looks like a winner to me. If I had the cash it would be my first knife from you.

Hello,

I've "nearly" sold it several times now, but the green one IS still available. The black is gone.

Hi,

$185 shipped anywhere U.S. 100% - you don't like it, not what you were expecting, etc. just ship it back and I will refund your money. Thanks for the interest.
