I was looking through the last issue of Blade magazine, and I saw an add for the Grohmann Lockblade. Does anyone have any experience with this knife, or even with this company? Any experience with their QC, or Fit and Finish? Looks like a useful design, but I'd like the opinions of some of you experts out there! Thanks!

Sincerely,
Anthony

I haven't seen the folder first hand, but I have owned a Model 1 before, and seen several others. The Model 1 is the D.H. Russell #1, an award winning design that is decades old. The knives are great. They look simple and work very well. The handle shape of the #1, #2 and a few others is unique, and your hand really locks into the handle. I was impressed when I got mine. It really feels liek it locks into your hand when you hold it. Grinds were even on all of the models I have seen, and the sheaths are nice leather too. Buy any Grohmann and enjoy. They are made in Pictou, Nova Scotia.

A while back Grohmann had a contest. All you had to do was look on their website for some symbols and e-mail them the locations of the symbols. I did this, and they sent me a pin, some coupons, a few other things (cant remember) and a whole bunch of real nice brochures. They e-mailed me too to tell me that I successfully completed their contest, so that was nice.

All in all, my impression is that the company is very friendly, and hs been around a long time. The knives I have seen make me confident in recommending them to everyone I know.

Good luck finding information on the folder. It was reviewed in an issue of Tac Knives, IIRC.

No nonsense Canuck knife company. I don't have specs for their knives although if you held one in your hand and use them, you wouldn't care. Very well made knives and their unique simplicity in their execution makes them quite beautiful and elegant unto themselves. I have the original Model 1 and am now eyeing their new deep woods true hunting knife. I have held and admired some really nice Finnish Puukos and Grohmann's quality rivals in Canadian equivalency. They have a certain je ne sais quoi to them that has to be experienced. No pun intended. I heartily recommend them. :D

Smooth as silk. They make a folder that opens the way a folder should. A company that isn't very well know in the U.S., but they have been making outstanding knives for four generations. I spent some time talking to the President and the Marketing Director at Blade. Great folks! Their knives look a little strange by current standards, but hold one in your hand and use it and you will be convinced that they know what they are doing. :D Racer Roy

KNOWLEDGE THAT IS NOT SHARED IS LOST.

Thanks for the info! I Love Canada, so I'm guessing I'll be sending a bot o' my cash up there soon! Thanks, again! I dunno, the Russell designed folder reminds me a bit of my Lum Chinese. Groovy, man, groovy!

Sincerely,
Anthony
