Gatorginzo- I just threw them in there for now. I wasn't even thingking about lining them up. Maybe I'll give it a whirl. 
Randucci- If I could find the right thickness of brass tubing, brass rivets would be ideal. That's probably what I'll end up doing. I have a post bookmarked about someone else here that replaced the rivets on one of their Busses. I think brass rivets would look sweet!
Jeepnut- I just used a step bit to drill out one side of the rivets, then just used a punch to drive the remaining side out. It was pretty easy actually. :thumbup:
