Sorry I have been away for a while...but it has not been without good reason
!!!
All this week, ATC has been preparing for Best Ranger 2001, among other exciting things which I will reveal in the near future..just before Blade Show!
In 3 hours, we will be on Todd Field at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia, acting as the very first, EVER, sponsor of the Best Ranger Contest with their own event as part of the contest....the Tomahawk Throw!!! This is unprecedented in the history of the Best Ranger Contest and the Ranger Traning Brigade.
On Friday morning, 120 US Army Rangers began a 60 continuous hour contest to compete for the title of Best Ranger...no scheduled sleep, chow, or rest periods. This voluntary contest heralds Rangers and Special Forces soldiers stationed all over the world.
As the Rangers feel that the Tomahawk is part of their heritage, the competing Rangers will be throwing our Ranger Spike Hawk at a distance of one turn (approximately 14 feet) for score. Three practice throws and the fourth is for real......this is no novelty game for them...these men will be just coming off night stakes, subsequent to extensive firearms competition, PT, and a 20 mile foot march from the previous 24 hours!!! They want points and want to win!
ATC's event has been marked as the central mystery event for the entire weekend!!! It will be covered by thirty forms of media, both local, national, and global. The competing Rangers do not know that they have to do this yet, which is why we have been unable to reveal it until now. However, the non-competing Rangers overseeing the contest, including the CO of RTB, are and have been completely excited!!!
In preparation, here are some pics from the ATC Shop from this past week...tomorrow night, I will upload pics of the actual contest itself...
