Group Axe head swap/restore - Maybe?

I would be interested in doing this. However, atm I don't have anything to throw into the pot. I am always on the lookout for something that is a deal though.

Narrow it down to a certain style and weight and condition, and then it makes a bit more sense.

Umm, what would the point of this be then if you were going to get something to restore that was essentially almost the same as what you just sent out? I think the idea of this is to send off something in order to see what someone else can do with it and or the challenge of restoring something that you don't know what it is going to be. Think opening the package in the mail with the curiousity of finding out what someone has sent you and figuring out what you want to do with it. Kinda like a gift exchange with a challenge.

Maybe, instead of posting up what you have we could post up what we need/want to receive and then people can choose who they want to send something to? Now, what you send doesn't have to be exactly what the person wants but something close or similar would be fun. (edit: forgot to add) i.e. I need a double bit. What kind? Idk. Whatever I suppose. Now I don't need a puget sound pattern nor would I expect to find one on my door step but it sure would be a surprise to get one and would be fun to restore. Maybe I get a cruiser? That really wouldn't be my first choice either but hey it would be neat to restore one of those too. Just an example.

Just my thoughts.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. I didn't mean "almost the same." It could be quite different. I meant something that I would find equally useful, valuable, and fun. I am simply not interested in trading a nice axe for a claw hatchet or a tomahawk.

So if we narrowed it down to something like boy's axe through 4 pounder of any style, rust and slight pitting okay, deformed eye and heavily mushroomed poll not okay, small chips in edge okay, large chips and cracks not okay, etc., I think there would be a much greater chance of mutual satisfaction. The last thing I want to see is something start out great and then lead to a bunch of hard feelings on this great forum.

Maybe. Do you have a 4lb jersey? ;)

I am fine with this.

He just doesn't want in. Carry on without him. I'm pretty sure he's just pissed that people are actually ordering those ugly new estwings!!!! LOL

LOL Memphis :D

I'm with Operator on those estwings!
Those things are disgusting IMO. Wouldn't buy one at a pawn shop for 5 bucks.

As for the OP... I don't know, I'll have to think about it.

But im sending an axe out for someone else to enjoy so I dont care.

That's the thing. You're not going to get your axe back. You're going to keep whatever you create out of someone else's axe. And you're going to share what you did with the forum. Sounds like fun to me. I'd even offer up several old axes for my recipient to pick from. And everything would be agreed upon in advance before you shipped off your axe.

Sounds like we have a few interested. I am fine just doing this with a small group. Anyone want to post what they have? Or how should we do it?
