Hey guys, Im feeling like Thomas hasnt been getting the props he deserves. I feel some of the negative posts lately and other headaches recently in the KAI world have got him looking at a half empty glass. So lets have a thread where you either show your support for all he has done for us or even share a story for when they have helped us out. Ill start.
I remember when I first got into kershaw knives I went crazy and bought a lot of them. In a matter of weeks I went from 0 kershaws to 50. Then ZT came out and i bought 2 ZT 0400 scavengers. One of them I carried the other went in the safe. I had a serrated version as my EDC. One day I noticed this knife was getting dull and I didnt have a sharpener. I went to a professional who said he could make it like new again. He needed the knife for a couple days and when I went to pick it up to my horror the guy took it to a grinder and removed the serrations. The knife was NOTHING like what it was. He even stated that he corrected the mistake they make with the blade and rounded the tanto grind to have a belly.
I nearly puked in my mouth. I couldnt even tell the guy what he did to my knife. I paid the $5 dollars and contacted Thomas nearly crying. He told me to send it in and see if they could salvage the knife and maybe re grind the blade. I sent it in and 2 weeks later I had a new knife in my mailbox. I was amazed. The guys at KAI had every right to tell me that it was my mistake and to get lost. They didnt and got me a new knife. I cant recall if it was a blem but that doesnt even matter. What matters is the thomas and Kershaw are one of the few companies that really care. And maybe they care too much. Because when people go out of their way to really pay it forward and all they get is dirt thrown back at them I can see why their train starts to lose steam and steal the wind from their sails. So thanks Thomas, that was just one of the many times you knocked it out of the park for me and I appreciate what you did and still do for all of us.
