Growth of traditionals?

Ahh that'll be the reason then. My apologies for my confusion. Saying that I'll bet my next paycheck U.K airports don't relax the restrictions, especially for U.K registered airlines.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the press release says nothin' about carryin' on your person it has to be stored in your carry on luggage.

I'll be curious to see how the agents are trained to interpret the regulation changes and how many knives get confiscated because the TSA agent wasn't sure so he just said it was it prohibited, whose gonna argue when ya got plane to catch and only 5 minutes to make your gate?

I used to travel a lot for work, (on average 3 weeks outta the month I was on the road) I was in Wales the day the teacher got stabbed by the kids in London IIRC and most pocket knives became illegal over night there, I was lucky enough to ship my knives home with my tools for work.

There will be a lot of misinterpretation and I'm sure months of continued confiscation of misinterpreted knives, personally I think I'll wait before I try to take my R Cover slip joint on a plane.

I agree with you Ted. I'll let some other folks test the waters first. Unless you guys want to take up a collection and fly me to the west coast or Santa Fe, with a little one in my pocket! ;)

And I agree with you. I am seeing more articles of this type in my news feeds. If the airline pilots are against this new law, the flight attendants, the related unions, and their insurers are as well, I don't know how it will stand. That's pretty much everyone in the flight industry, leaving only the folks that fly as supporters. In a related article, I saw that (IIRC...) that over 70% of USA travelers don't want the law changed.

Guess we'll see.

Thanks for clearence... now the posts in this thread make really sense for me. Without knowing this it was not that easy following the thread.

I've even had arguments about knives (small folders) that were in my CHECKED luggage because of the ignorance of airport officials. Be good to see some sense while there is one SAK manufacturer left! Not holding my breath though.

It seems a lot of regular people are overreacting to the news. I caught a few minutes of piers morgan the other day. He said that the 9/11 hijackers used boxcutters and penknives. I don't think the new tsa rules are gonna last long. I don't know if everyone thinks that way but they seem to be the loudest voices at the moment. I think a lot of people are just afraid of anything pointy.

meh. I'll keep checking my cattle knife. Don't need it in an airport generally anyway.

Given the nature of the last hijackings, how far is a couple of hijackers with box cutters or small pen knives going to get with a plane of people with half sized baseball bats and golf clubs?:D

Can anyone say "Batter up"?

I really think they can belly ache all they want, but the simple fact of the money angle is going to win. The TSA can't keep on dealing with all the boxes of stuff with budget cuts and man hour restrictions. Just too much to deal with. The sheep will bleat, but they will settle down, and put up with it. If the recent threat history is anything to go by, there's more dangr from some idiot trying to set his BVD's on fire, than being hijacked by a desperate gang of peanut wielding fanatics.

Now those leg knife guys, I don't know about them!

Carl.

I saw a movie like that once...
