Did Camillus make the Gryphon M30A1? Looks a lot like the CQB, but with a Zytel handle.
Is it still being made? Thanks.

I think the this line was made in Japan exclusively for the Cutlery Shoppe. Blade shape wise the M30 shows it's parantage and appears to be an enlarged version of the CQB. Too bad about the zytel handle, I think it could have been more successful with one of micarta.

Loki, do you know if they still make it?

I like the Zytel handle idea because it should protect the handle against corrosion better than Micarta slabs.

A micarta handle, done up right, has epoxy under it to hold the knife together and keep gunk from getting under it to corrode or fester.

CAman,
I think everybody has summed thing up, but here goes.....

The M30A1 was designed by Bob Terzuola, made for Cutlery Shoppe in Japan. We had nothing to do with its manufacture. It had/has a hidden tang and a molded zytel handle.

We build the CQB-1 here in the USA @ CAMILLUS CUTLERY. It was also designed by Bob Terzuola. It features a full tang and 3D sculpted Canvas Micarta scales.

I'm not sure if the M30A1 is still being made, but you can contact Cutlery Shoppe, and they can tell you. The M30A1 was/is a good looking knife,....a testament to the talent of Bob 'T'!
