GSM reveals future plans for Cold Steel - 2021 and beyond

Yup, more 3-3.5” knives, nothing wrong with those. Also nothing wrong with being more like Spyderco and Benchmade.
Of course people can get angry about my opinions, like other things people on the internet says. Strange world.

Looks like i hit a nerve. Not gonna argue with you man. Buy what you like, YOLO.

Why would you say something like this about Steelys post?
I applaud him for not responding cause you seem to enjoy arguing.

The thing I got from GSM dropping blowguns and spears is someone on their legal team got nervous about them and the bean counters know shipping big items is way more money.

Actually if you read the statement literally LT wanted to keep them, they weren’t necessarily dropped. I still wonder what if anything he has planned for them?

Not sure why you even said that. I literally said I’m not gonna argue and disengaged.

It's kinda disappointing to see that this GSM saga seems to have split this forums/CS fan community recently. We seem to have forgotten why we are here in the first place, to talk about the brands we love, for many people, including me, for many years.

Some of us were here for a long time, been through all the hates and trolling from other members(the CRKT lawsuits, the lock test vs Sebenza and Spyderco etc.), sharing our experience, knowledge and excitement for our new CS knives every year.

AFAIR this sub-forum has always been respectful, but i'm starting to see long time members turning against each others recently, including my opinions and preference for 3-3.5" knives and my opinion about what's considered fringe. Look, i'm just here to express my opinion guys, nothing you say is going to make me start hating 3-3.5" knives. If you love your XL Espada and your blowgun, nothing i say is going to change that. As i told dear @Larry Turko on the other thread, just because i dislike all the XL knives and all the fringe stuff doesn't make me less qualified to be a CS fan.

Suffice to say that these are difficult times for the CS fans, i'd be very interested to see whether people stick together or fall apart.

Good post. People are under a lot of stress right now so hopefully everyone can keep this in mind before biting each others heads off.

I hope Cold Steel doesn't try to imitate its competitors. What drew me to Cold Steel is their strong, aggressive, field expedient designs. Plenty of other people make pocket jewelry, no need for more of that.

Dropping the blowguns and mid evil crap doesnt bother me at all i had no interest in it anyway the knives are the main focus right now.

This doesn't hurt anyone, LT is going to make the discontinued CS products on the side, while CS continues making knives in decent to good steels. I'm happy to hear this news. And they'll probably still have their big machete line and some other goofy stuff. And if they don't LT will. Either way, as long as the company is in good hands, I hope LT is able to relax and enjoy his ranch and stuff more.
It would be nice if either LT or GSM brought back some of the old classic CS designs like the Peacekeeper or the original Safekeeper etc. One could only hope!

The midevil stuff is fun. I have battle axes, poll axe, hawks, etc..

The blow guns are amazing!! I grew up with .357 blow guns.

The big bore line are crazy fun. And real hunting tools on top of being plain fun!!

I have three...one for my self, one for each Boyz and bought one for my dad, because he loves toys too!!!

From the GSM press release "interview" :

{ The ENGAGE Series (formerly the Drifter) will be launched in 2022 in 3.5”, 3.0” and 2.5” sizes. We started with the 3.5” blade design first.}

I got nothing against smaller folders , but ultimate lock strength is most needed on BIG ones .

How about some 4+" , 5.5+" , and at least one 7.5+" XL Espada sized folder to prove how superior your new lock really is ?

Kinda like the Old CS would have done , already .

In that category, I'm really looking forward to the Mayhem.

I'm not sold on the ergos of the new spine lock on smaller knives -- just based on pictures, of course -- but with the real estate on the Mayhem's handle it seems like a good fit.

Yeah !

The production Mayhem will be the real test of GSM's ability to make a viable old school style CS folding fighter .

I'm not sure they care enough to really get it right .

It should have been a priority , to demonstrate the lock and to at least act like they are still Cold Steel .

Seems more like a second or third thought : " Oh , gosh maybe we should also , some day , make something that might appeal to the old weapon lovin' nutballs ! "
