So this is Guy's design for a knife when you can take only one tool. I figure I better get one.

Where is the dedicated thread for it?

I went ahead and ordered one of these beasts. And I do mean beasts. It's more than double the length of anything I normally carry.

Most of the other knives have a dedicated thread, and I know I'm not alone in ordering one of these bad boys, so where is all the info I need to pour over?

I'm really excited about this as well. I'm sure when the very first blade is finished and ready to be shown off I'll.... um..... pass......... a brick. It will be absolutely glorious I'm sure. Can't wait to see what this thing can do and what the new handle will feel like.

This model is still far enough out from production that there hasn't been a previous thread made... until now!

I have no idea how long it will be till it goes in production but my guess is not too long as there are not many models left to go and it can't perpetually stay open.

I love the idea of the design though I'm not a choil guy. This seems like a reasonable place to have a choil and I believe the ergos will be a lot better like you mentioned.

And really, a shaving sharp 10 inch blade. That is pretty cool on its own. Part of me wants to see how well Guy can pull this off. It's a really challenging design. Something with a choil you can do fine work with, but also a light chopper. It's a lot to put into one knife.

I think I will try and find one of those gel filled zombies for part of my testing. Seems the most reasonable way to go about making sure it really is a only one tool knife.

The current 10 is a wicked piece of equipment. I've been beating up this one I got from Standard78 and it just laughs.

I'm not sure about zombies, but I can tell you it cleaves turkey legs scary clean. I intend to have a new 10, but I'm going to poach one once they hit Monday sales, hopefully.

I am with you on this one HK. No preorder for me but will be waiting in the wings, so to speak, to snag one on a Monday's Sale if and when!

I may just do so if I end up selling one of those 5.1s which is surplus to my requirement. But to be honest, the GSO 4.5 BC has now piqued more of my interest than the 10, so that is where I will probably be parking some more fund$ for now.

But yes, I do understand that we need to break a few eggs first before they can make any omelette ;-)

The GSO 5.1 20CV is now gone, surprisingly at the expense of the 3V! Well since can't be without a GSO I will be keeping the 3V version but only sheathed! In the meantime, I will be eagerly awaiting the choilless 4.7 which I plan to keep and to beat on. Once I receive that one, I will decide as to whether to park my dispensable $200-$300 play funds either with the 4.5 BC or the 10. Since Justin ordered one of the GSO 6s, I may just have to return the favor and add up to the GSO 10's final tally ;)

I wonder if there are others like me just holding off on ordering and waiting until it gets closer to time for production. Which may actually be what's holding this model back. Now that I have Nathan Carothers Light Chopper I'm unsure if I will go ahead with the GSO 10. The Carothers is an amazing knife!

My prediction is the 4.7 will arrive and you will be so enamoured with it you will sell your 5.1. Then you will have $$ for either a 4.5 BC or a 10, whichever you don't get now. You already have a 6, so a 4.5 BC, 4.7, 6 & 10. That's like, the trinity of greatness depending how you break it up. You already have a tool for splitting and anything a 10 can't handle. I'm sure you will want something smaller than a 4.5 BC.

I think yesterday was the best time to sell a 5.1 and now is a good time because once the 4.7 and 6s are out there, I bet 5.1 are sitting unsold for ages or come way down on price. And I could be totally wrong.

Justin,

That is precisely the way that it may all turn out after all! I would also like to add a Necker II to my repertoire but I will have to get one of those on a Monday as i am not prepared to wait for yonks on that model!

As for the GSO 5.1 in 3V which I withdrew from the Exchange, you are right as I may end up selling that one too once the 4.7 arrives. TBT as I told HK, I just was not too enamored with the choil on that model as
I thought that I would be, but my recent kitchen accident had more to do with that than the GSO 5.1 specifically as a go to knife.

So to recap for: Preorders: GSO 6 > GSO 4.5 BC > GSO 10 ... For Monday's: GSO 4.7 > Necker II

As to whether I will eventually hang onto the GSO 10 or not, I think that it will be a great investment whether it is going to be sheathed at all times or used so this I am sure will push me over the edge and I'll add
my name to the preorder ranks ;-)

Casino,

I will make you a great offer. REALLY GREAT! Order the 10. If you get it, and you think, man this thing is just too big, and I am never going to use it; I will buy it from you for what you paid, the $309 net. If you can sell it for more, do it. This way you have nothing to lose! I am 90% sure anything pre-ordered will sell for a modest profit or at least a break even once they start landing.

I think the 4.5 is a bit of a sleeper, but once they start landing, a lot of people will kick themselves that they didn't get one. If funds permit, I will be pre-ordering a second as well.

And I agree on the N2. I will be ordering one when they open again.

Ding... Ding... Ding! Sold!

Justin, I will be ordering one of those knowing my darn addictive nature ;-)

And no worries Friend, you don't need to commit yourself in case I should
end up with buyer's remorse. As of now, the preorder line on Survive! is as follows:

- GSO 4.5 BC
- GSO 10
- GSO 8

Correct?

I will most likely wait for Monday the 23rd to see what else comes up on the Factory 2nds.
As for 4.5 & 10, I will most likely preorder both concurrently. I just can't fathom that the
trio of GSO 6, GSO 10 & GSO 4.5 would take a full year of waiting each. I mean, we've got
to get lucky at least with one of those to move up the fulfillment ladder, right?

BTW out of curiosity, what color combo did you go with? The red linen handle scales with
a black sheath are really calling my name on that model!

Yes, the order you mention is correct!

I think these smaller batches will come out quick. I bet the 2.7 is really fast to sharpen, and a smaller run than the 5.1. I think orders will start coming out faster with each consecutive model.

So far, my handles are either Black G-10, 3 Colour Camo G-10, Ghost Jade G-10, and I think the one micarta I did was the 10 with canvas camo. That's going to change if the G-10 proves grippy enough with the micro-texture for Guy to feel comfortable putting them on the 10. I really prefer G-10. The only other hand I have ordered is the 4.7 Cru Forge V 4.7 with natural brown, but I will also be buying a second set of handles for that bad boy once it ships. Most likely Bone Linen, or you guessed it, G-10. Maybe 3 Colour Camo G-10 with black fasteners, black sheath and the FDE coating?! Oh man, I am as bad as my wife getting dressed.

One final note, each of my GSOs has both sets of fasteners, and at minimum 2 sets of handles. I am not set on my perfect combo yet.
