Alright folks for those of us that ordered the GSO 12 were last in line for the starter.
BUT the wait will be worth it. What are some of the choppers you guys will be able to compare it to?

Its gonna go up a NMFBM, MOAB, GSO 10, Fellbeast, M9, Mountainmandu, and 1311.
Granted these are all different beasts I can imagine the 12 will hold its own if not out do most of them.
The edge Guy puts on his knives I know this bad boys gonna cut deep ontop of being light in the hand and so forward heavy.
Its just hard to contain my excitement it looks so well designed.

I tried forgetting about it and just hoping it shows but but I conceded already haha.

What are some of your thoughts and anticipations?

Ramble over! :D

Wow, zymologist, it sounds lime you have an awesome collection of big blades. I'll be looking forward to hearing the thoughts of a guy who knows his stuff when you get your 12 to make comparisons.

The biggest I have is a bk9, so I'll just be spectating from here on.

AWESOME! I can't wait to see your comparison, and thoughts on the GSO-12 compared to that line up!!!

The 12 has no competition it's gonna destroy whatever you hit with it at that weight. Closest thing I found to try and get a feel for its size is power eagle 12. But I hate the handle. I got three 12s and I'll more than likely order a factory second when they release. I had to support Guy as much as possible. Gonna hang two of the on the wall it's gonna be functional badass art.

My search for the perfect choppah ended at the Junglas. Ironically, its probably the only ESEE I think would actually benefit from their choils.
I was really wanting a GSO 10 but I couldn't get over the finger grooves and gideonstactical's review of it. Didn't like the idea of having it fly out of my hand or needing to rely on a lanyard.
I want to get my greasy mitts on a LT Wright Competition Chopper since I'd like to believe that a knife designed by a "expert" in chopping would do well also. Sadly, my cursory search revealed squat on any reviews which speaks to me on a certain level.

So I went on to looking at the Busse Battle Mistress (but wowza thats a hit on the wallet) and thats about the time the GSO12 was announced. Looked to be exactly what I was looking for and a nice excuse to try some 3V for myself.
Hit up skystorm/patriot leather and said that they're planning on making sheaths for it.
So now, I'm violently fiddling with my balls until they finally get shipped...in what 6 months? lol

Like sabers on a pirate flag? Please give some pics however you do it!

I do like ESEE as a company but, I was always puzzled why their 3 inch knife has a choil, but the 10 inched does not.
Aaron on Gideon's Tactical really tore the 10 apart. I was surprised, but his thoughts all sounded like he put thought into them.
I know the wait isn't easy, but be gentle with yourself. You may regret it later...

I don't have a 12 coming but am looking forward to seeing these match-ups Z. As much as I love my M9s I don't expect they can hold with the 12 in the chopping department.

Don't have a MOAB, M9 or Mountainmandu. Do have the rest of your list, a KZII, ASHBM, B11, Bravo III and a couple of large Big Chris blades in 3V.

There's a size limit for one-handed choppers beyond which you lose in speed & accuracy what you gain in weight. I think the GSO-12 will be just the right side of the line for me. I'd imagine it will have a similar heft to the 1311, but with a narrower factory edge.

I never had a problem losing the GSO-10, but adding rubber liners improved the grip for me  Just that little bit of added thickness.
I am envious of those with such respected MONSTER blades to compare this one to  I'll put mine up against the original GSO-10, a Rodent 9, a cheap machete and a hatchet. I doubt I'll get to keep the 12 since the 10 or the R9 handle most of my branch-cutting and a splitting-axe + chainsaw does the heavier work, but it'll be fun to try whenever it arrives!

Yeah. ESEEs choices puzzle me at times seems like a waste of precious blade length in a knife that small. Or how they're raising the costs to put their plastic bagged knives into plain white boxes

I've only heard Gideon's complaint a few other times even though most people love it. After that lanyard was put on, he could only speak glowingly about it. Obviously its just one man's opinion/experience

Hopefully it'll be in my hands for some late scouting for hunting areas and fall camping, I'm sure both will end up tagging along somehow.

I agree I think the 12s gonna be a home run I will most definately be able to work with it much longer than my others.

Why do these knife reviewers always wear gloves?

They only hold the knife in their hands when talking about the knife, but not for testing.

maybe he was tacticold? I dunno.

I'm still keeping my GSO 10 though. Although the new GSO 10 sounds tempting from the other threads.

I'm excited for the GSO 12, especially now that orders are still open! I can't thank you guys enough at Survive! for doing that! The starter was at a bad timing for me with tax season and a trip to japan, but I'm now trying to figure out which to pair up with the GSO 12, the 2.7 or the new 3.5...hmm

Kicking myself for not getting in on the GSO 12 starter....UGGH!!!

Well, you may have missed out on the 5% off and added gear with shipment, but you can still order a 12 with FREE upgrades. Still a mind blowing deal! Do it!

Why did you do that? I didn't realize you could still pre-order. I'm in trouble now...must have some restraint. The pre-order should be open quite a while right? Since the GSO12 is last in line?

Haha! This is not the place to be if you're trying to get talked out of buying GSO's :D

I'd guess you have a few months. Check the production schedule on the website every so often and subscribe to their news letter if you haven't already.

I'll be waiting for an update
