GSO 12 last but not least!

Looking at the rate things are going, I would fathom a guess and say it will probably be 10 months to a year before you see the GSO 12. I hope I am wrong of course.

I just reassessed the schedule today. The way it is looking right now the GSO-12 will start production in January. Production on those will probably take a little longer than usual, since they are giant chunks of CPM-3V.

Whoa!!! So if this schedule stays, well, on schedule, then I could have my 4.7, 2.7 and 4.1 all before Christmas??!!?

Sounds good to Silver Needle!

I don't wear any lanyard like Aaron showed in his video. I hook my thumb in the lanyard and allow the lanyard to drape accross the back of my hand while gripping the handle. I adjust the size of the loop so that it is pretty snug when gripping the knife. This approach prevents the knife from slipping in use. However, the GSO 10 handle is pretty large, and I have not used it in any heavy duty chopping chores since receiving it. Now I am motivated to fit a lanyard on my GSO 10 and put it through the paces. I am thinking that this might be a YMMV thing depending on the size of your hand, and the technique of using your lanyard.

The 5.1 has yet to be released but it seems to me that there has been a three or four month lead time from the start of production.
If the 12 is going to be slower, the shorties might go faster, and I think they said something about speeding that up as they went.
Still, since they haven't closed the 4.1 orders yet I'm guessing that they won't be done in 7 weeks, but I love your enthusiasm! :)

I just checked. They closed the 4.1 orders already. It means I am closer to seeing the 4.1 in my hands!

Silver just posted it, 5.1 pre-orders will begin shipping this week....

I do the same, if I'm understanding you right Mac. Allows the blade to swing away from you if you lose your grip also. Works great on some blades, depending on the position of the lanyard hole and shape of the handle (i.e. sykco 711 and srkw m9 work perfect this way, srkw ratweiler does not). It might help with the 12, that's gonna be a lot of blade swinging out there.

Sounds like they're getting production ramped up

That is exactly the hold I was trying to describe Hard Knocks. I find it very secure and simple to get in and out of.

This has been a hard decision for me. To get the GSO 10 or the GSO 12 on order. I know the right answer is both, but really have to limit it to just one for now... Leaning towards the 12, just because it's the biggest, baddest GSO out there right now until the GSO 20 (waki) is designed and released.

I've got a 12 on order, and I've been tempted by the 8, but I just use the 10 so much, it's hard to think either would be better. The 12 will be a LOT more blade-heavy for a powerful chopper, and the 8 will be lighter and more compact as a camp-knife, but the 10 gives me that balance - more length than the 8 for extra reach and power, lighter than the 12 for more agility limbing-out trees... I'll be honest, I don't expect I'll be able to keep the 12 (or the ChopHouse I have on order) because the 10 will probably have the best cutting geometry and is more nimble for the tasks I have for such blades... but it'll be fun to try!!!
