I just preordered a GSO-12! Anyone else here on the foums excited about this blade? I have been looking for a new chopper, and have been considering a number of other blades. I was considering a Bravo 3 and a Senegal, but decided on the GSO instead. The GSO looks like a better design in both the handle and the blade. I am pumped to see it in person!:thumbup:

If I can save enough before ordering closes...... we'll see! This model is really calling my name, though. I can't wait to see Guy show off the first test model. For as good as the mid size blades look, the 12 will really be a sight.

David, I also have one on order. Don't remember the last time I was this excited about a purchase! The GSO 12 is bound to be an amazing knife based on specs alone. I really hope it gets the new "tweaked" heat treat. I love large knives in general and I also looked at the Bravo 3, a couple of Busse, a Gossman. I ultimately decided to go with the GSO-12. It seem a bit more versatile then the others to me. My current favorite large choppers are my Junglas, my condor kukri machete, and my Himalayan Imports M-43. The M-43 is a beast but not something I'd ever take hiking lol. I'm hoping the GSO-12 is under 24 Ounces which would make it much more packable for me.

I am in the same boat. I really want one, but there are so many others in the way... The 4.5 and the 8 are speaking to me. As awesome as the 12 is, I know I dont like to carry huge knives and I am afraid it would become a show piece or a play toy that hardly get used.

Is it getting close to production time? Admittedly, I don't follow what's been happening in that regard; but this is a knife that has interested me since the early mentioning. I was on the verge of pre-ordering when it first opened up (with the discount); but couldn't bring myself to follow through.

The 12 looks so awesome!!! But I agree with all your points. I'm thinking it would be more practical to get another smaller to mid sized model, but I often day dream of the 12.

Silver you should just order one. If you don't end up loving it you can always sell it and get at least your money back or maybe even more. Look at it as an investment!

Then again..... the fewer people that order it the less they will have to produce and the quicker the production time will be.......hmm.... on second thought PLEASE don't order one! lol

Really? Once they order the steel aren't they going to make all the blades regardless of how many are on order?
I thought one of the goals of the starter was to finally accumulate some inventory. :)

I think that was definitely one of the goals - but we'll see what happens. With the new procedures of only selling what Guy is able to get sharpened I think there will be a greater time period where a certain knife will be available, but i think it's anyone's guess at this point how many he can get done (while also fulfilling other pre-orders) and how long it will take to sell that limited number out.

I have started takimg this approach with busses and other brands and if I buy a 12 it will be for this very reason

Good point. I forgot that they could have the parts on hand but not sharpened up and ready to sell.

I think eventually, once they are through ALL the preordered stuff they will settle into a nice groove of pumping out more models regularly (I'm just assuming), but it seems like a daunting task to do the weekly sales while also trying to work through the current model of the presale. Does that make sense? It sounded better in my head........

As to my original comment, I was talking about presale stuff. So even though next week you might be able to buy a 5.1, if there were less people who preordered, then the batch of preorders would have gone out sooner.

That is going to be the tricky part. We want these preorders out as soon as possible, we don't like knowing that we owe people. But at the same time we have to have income to keep the power on and follow-up runs moving forward. It makes the most sense to sell only what we need to in order to get by while focusing primarily on fulfilling preorders. Which means my Mondays are going to be filled with people who are mad that the knives aren't in stock longer. Have I mentioned that we want these preorders fulfilled as soon as possible? haha

when are y'all anticipating to be ahead of the game and just fulfilling monday orders? or do you plan on continuing the preorder supplemented with mondays?

what other plans do you have for the future of the company?

If all goes according to plan, August will be the magic month (so probably closer to December). The preorders will be fulfilled and there will be enough stock to list a few different models each Monday.

We won't run anymore preorders for these models. I'm not sure yet if we will be offering preordering for the folder.

Our plan right now is to just keep running with the Monday release of already sharpened knives. They are still going to be hard to get so I expect people will still complain and beg to be added to a special list.
