Hey guys and gals (do we even have any gals around here?), I'd like any thoughts from any of you who might have a necker II or ordered a 2.7.

I already passed on a necker II when they were on sale, mostly because of the unique design. I just want sure if I'd be able to get used to it. I have an ESEE izula and I love the size and shape. The specs on the 2.7 are very similar so I'm positive I'd love it.

My big struggle is if the 2.7 is worth the extra money and extra months of wait.

Help a SURVIVOR! out!

You could throw the OG 3.5 into this convo as well. I think when the necker 2 comes back I'm going to grab one. I like the size of my necker but its hard to use for anything short of opening boxes. like everyone says around here, buy both sell the one you don't like!

I got an N2 and its surprisingly stout. Hopefully by the end of August I will have been issued my new plate carrier. I think the N2 is going to go on my off side, reverse draw. It will be handy as hell for opening ammo boxes and in reverse grip it reminds me of a Kerambit. In regular grip, you sort of have that human velociraptor thing going. But i will have to buy some green handles for it through. Cant have blaze orange on a green tac vest.

I was lucky enough to see the N2 in development at the S! PA shop and I got to handle a few N2 blanks. So I knew it would be a great knife. I had an izula but I gave it away because I knew the N2 was the better knife. I've got 5 now and I have them in all of my packs, in my car and for EDC.

Re the 2.7 vs. the N2 they are different knives. You really can't whittle with a N2 but you can with a 2.7. I think the N2 and a 4.1 are perfect companions and since I have a bunch of both I am not going to get a 2.7. I really like the N2 it cuts very well, it's comfortable to use, it's small and is easy to carry. It's perfect for every day chores and it's the first knife I grab when I am at the house.

The 2.7 is going to be such a handy, easy to carry knife that you will wish you had one, if you don't. I have and like the Izula 2 and carry it in my chore coat. The Survive 2.7 is going to be just as easy to carry and probably cut a lot better. I like the 3.5 as well, very handy and easy to pocket carry. The N2 is very different. It's a nice little blade when you just need a quick cut, but I don't see it matching the range of uses of the 2.7 or 3.5.

Thanks everyone for the input. Keep it coming!

You lucky son of a gun! That is awesome about your time at the factory. The second part I put in bold is really helpful. I failed to mention what I'd be using the knife for. It won't see a lot of edc like box opening, but rather use on wood. I'd like something as a tiny backup in the woods or small things around the yard. Your comment makes total sense.

This is helping me make up my mind. Like I said, I enjoy using my izula. The N2 is so different in design that I hesitated before and from those of you with experience handling it, it sounds like my instinct was right. That's just my prefered style of blade, though. I'm positive the love for the necker design is well earned.

I was the same way about the necker II. I got one and now it never leaves me. It handles the lite work well but when I have a lot of wood to work on I use my esse LS. (Only cause my 3.5&7/7 are not here yet) I really looked into the 2.7 I just thought the 3.5 would make a better edc for my carry.

Thanks Tex, I appreciate the real user feed back because I have none with these particular blades!

I'd love to keep hearing feedback from those who have it, but at this point I'm realizing the necker isn't what I need. Now to just pull the trigger on the 2.7.........

Also, am I just dreaming or did they used to have gray sheaths? I don't see it as an option.

Thanks! I was luck that Ellie, Guy and crew were nice enough to let me come by to resharpen my knives or just pick them up and to show me some of their per-production items.

Based on the above I would get the 2.7 or 3.5, they are perfect for that use case.

I'm jealous! Great experience for you.

I do have a 3.5 that I love. I still would like something that is truly neck knife size, so your recommendation is right on.

Helpful post and also great visuals :p

Anyone remember this scene from the first movie?

Also, I'm entertaining the idea of skipping the 2.7 altogether in favor of six N2's...

Getting into the thread v late I wanted to chuck in that I opted for the 2.7 over the Necker 2. I have a few pistol ring grip warni blades and while I like to play with them or cut rope I will always opt for a traditional setup. That being said I would love a Necker 1 but they never seem to come uo (would own it for fun mess around only).

I think the 2.7 will get a cult status as a little big knife.

I love the Necker 2. One of my most used knives.

Mostly EDC? What do you use it for most?

Thanks, Armalite. I like how you think.

In other threads in other forums in galaxies far, far away, some questions get such varied answers, but this time y'all helped solidify my 2.7 choice. Thanks!

This thread got my wheels turning. I think I'm going to place an order on a 2.7. Thanks a lot Silver Needle. I blame you!

Do it! What colors for handle and sheath?

The 2.7 is definitely on my short list, I just need to cool it on buying for a little. We'll see when it gets closer to the 2.7 going into production if I can hold out. The new 10 and this whole 8 situation also makes me want to hold onto some dollars. But really out of the three knives I mentioned I think the 2.7 would get the most practical use. Time will tell!

I would probably stick with black canvas and a black sheath.
I think the new 8 just bumped the 10 off my list because I already have the old version and nothing's wrong with it.
