GSO 3.5 (2nd Generation)

I sold my older version 3.5 to preorder a new one. The additional contouring should be great. I think it'll pair up nicely with an axe or larger knife.

Texas love the Boots !!!

Ahhh the boot knife. Always there in a pinch, but never there to scare the weak minded. The 3.5 Is a good size, however the sheath feels rather bulky in boot. A nice pocket size w/ clip leather sheath would give this a good bump in the comfort category. That said the khiadex works phenomenal just a bit heavy for the application. The necker II fit perfect in this roll. As well as the necker, its just not as accessible when reaching for it. No handle and all.

I think if there hadn't been that last run of 3.5s right before the starter the 3.5 would have been way farther up in the queue. I know if I hadn't grabbed one then I would have certainly preordered one.

I've already switch back to the old 3.5 for my edc. I think the 2.7 is just a touch too short in the handle.

Ahh you have a great point there!

Dang I didn't want to hear that. I was thinking about picking one up to try out for an EDC knife, but now I'm a bit worried.

My only issue with the old 3.5 was the lack of an index finger pocket. It sucks having nerve damage.

I'm thinking I'll wait on trying for the EDC until i have the 3.5 in hand... Don't really care for the EDC's elf-choil and guard, nor the sheath (have the same concerns about the FK). But I really like the curve of the handle.

I'm with you Chiral. TBH, if this knife didn't have the famous Carrothers & LA insignia, I don't think it would've gotten anywhere near the traction if it was from Jo Blow knives! That said, in no way, shape or form I wish to denigrate the knife or the maker! I just find it amazing that this design was just a rendering and sketches on paper less than a few month ago! I've never had a GSO 3.5 so I'll be hell bent on scoring one of those on a Monday as soon as they become avail. I like the rendering I saw on the Survival Knife though and I'll be going for that one around Christmas time ;)

I'm hoping to get one to replace my swamprat rodent solution. (Great ergos but too thick)

If SwampRat would keep that profile but drop it down to .125"-.135" thickness in a modern stainless they'd sell a bajillion of them.

My last generation 3.5 is definitely superior to the RS in cutting tasks, and that coming from a SR fan. Love my 3.5. The new gen looks like it will be great.

I don't mind the thickness of the RS, gives me confidence with how rough I am on it, but oh for a skeletonized tang! My life isn't sufficiently balanced as it is!

Another benefit of the last run of 3.5's  And another reason I love that little blade.

If I could get my grail field-dressing knife built, it would be either the profile of the rodent solution, or the drop point rodent trail. Something like 1/8" thickness with a tapered tang to remove as much weight as possible in the handle. A very high sabre or full flat grind because this is a slicing blade I've in mind. Built in a good stainless or semi-stainless that takes a toothy edge for performance in hides/meat. Solid handle pins and no lanyard cutout so that there is less places for blood and fat to accumulate. No jimping and slightly eased spine edges so as not to snag anything you don't want cut.

Until I can find someone to build that, though, Guy's 3.5 is not too shabby ;) :)

EDC in hand very comfortable and really fills the hand , I do not have a smaller GSO to compare it to though .
