Ok, I know a lot of people have been curious about the fine details of the upcoming GSO-4.7, so here it is.

Yes! This looks great. I don't know anything about designing or making knives, but I really think if I could make my perfect knife it would come out looking like a GSO.

Now I'm wondering if Guy will continue to align the bolts now that they are torx???

Thanks so much for the kind words! That means a lot to me.

Yeah those torx heads will definitely help me out a LOT with my OCD need to align screw heads. Building should actually go a bit faster.

Thank you for the support! Each SURVIVE! Starter order helps our company grow. Additionally a big thanks for the fun Instagram posts.

Hahaha! I'm looking forward to beating the crap out of this blade 👊

#drool lol
hmm this is definitely leading the race on what I'd probably spend my "Survive! Starter Credit" on

That looks awesome!

I thought I had settled on a 7/7 as my Survive Starter knife, but now I am not sure. Thanks, Guy! You are not making this easy for me!

Clearly this new 4.7 looks amazing. For those of you who preordered it, what made you choose this one instead of or in addition to the 4.1?

The original 4.1 was so popular and I'm wondering if you'll use this 4.7 for similar things or because of the different specs use it differently.

What went into your decision???

I have a 3.5 for 99% of my needs (i had a 4.1 but i prefer thinner 3.5 for better cutting)
I preordered a 4.7 as an "expedition knife"

I started my S!K quest wanting a 5, but I was too late. I think this is a good in between with excellent upgrades to ergonomics and hardware. I think I made out in the end...LOL.

Raoh and Alchemy, those are both good explanations. I already put in for my starter 4.1 and I'm still planning on getting a 5 in the last run. Even though the 5 is "old" I've been waiting for this production for awhile and feel like I owe it to myself to see if this is really my grail.

Then Guy puts up those stupid 4.7 renderings and I feel this irrational need to hold the 5 in one hand and the 4.7 in the other =)

I'd really like to hear if anyone is converting from a 4.1 to the 4.7.

Didn't see any notation in the description but will the 4.7 have a similiar full tang as the 5 series or SK series or will this one be a skelotonized tang like the one on the standard 4 series?

I should have looked more carefully, appears in the first diagram its a "full" tang.

In new production all models except the GSO-2.7 will be solid tang. I see your followed up on your own post but I figured it wouldn't hurt to clarify. ;)

That is the best compliment I could think of
And those flat head screws definitely helped you earn your reputation for attention to detail.

That looks awesome!

I'm in the exact same situation. I was trying to talk myself into something larger, but now my indecisive mind wants to have all these mid-sized GSO's.

I think it really depends on your environment, your activities and how you use your knife in it
Look at here for a 4.1/5 comparison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrMPCYNonNE , you can make a better idea.
4.7 is between, perfect
Thanks for the link. I had seen this video and I like this guy's reviews. I know I'll have a 4.1 and 5 for sure but I'm wondering if it will be excessive to add the 4.7 in there. Actually I know it wouldn't be "needed", but there is something about having the 5 as a piece of S! history and the father of the 4.7.

A few questions before I order:
- will there be option for bowdrill divot ?
- 90 degree sharp spine ?
Thanks

If you go into customize an order before adding to your cart on their site, bow drill divot is still an option.

I think in the starter thread Guy or Ellie said the spines will be squared. Ellie did make the amusing and helpful comparison to not being as sharp as an ice skate.
