GSO Handles

Let's do a show of hands, I'm about to put in an order for canvas GSO-10 handles and I would like to make sure we are getting enough.

woah! Great customer service! I'd be in for some 4.1 spares(not that i need any per say:D), but sadly don't have a 10 yet?!

For slippery G10, has anyone tried to rough them up a bit with some course sand paper? It will kill the shiny look, but greatly improve utility. A GSO 10 at the camp site is better than one in the closet.

I was a Bark River junky before Survive! Came along. Their handles are polished to the point of actually being able to see dull reflections in them. I had orange g10 (no big surprise there) and I would sand them with 200 grit. They would have a nice matte finish, get tacky when wet and were not slippery when dry. Honestly, after sanding they were very close to S!K orange g10. If you were to do it start at 200 and lightly sand. Work to rougher grits until you find what you like. Understand that if you are using the kydex sheath you may effect the snug fit. They grip the handle for retention. Change the handle, change the retention.

I own my fair share of BRKs as well. Mainly their smaller to mid for EDC purposes, which is why I have not gone for anything less than the 4.1 in the survive line. They sure are pretty, and they sure are slick when wet. I have never roughed G10 up, but I have read many posts where others have.

I've done the same thing. Got a lot of Barkies and that micarta is slick. I'm seriously considering bead-blasting the gunny hunter I have in 3V. I like that knife, but combine that slick handle with the great retention from a Mashed Cat sheath, and you cannot draw it one-handed with deer blood or bear grease on your hand. I have not tried to rough up G10, but I'll bet it could be done.
