I know I've seen a tutorial about how to fit a guard (not bolsters) on a full tang knife, but I can't seem to find it now. Anyone got a link or some advice?

I basically follow the same procedure as in the Zowada article posted above. I thought I showed you how to do that, or was it that I showed Troy? Either way, when you booger up the slot and get it too wide, if you're using brass, you can use your ball peen and push the slot back narrower, then just clean up the face. I've tried soldering a couple with zero success, but have had good luck with epoxy.

I do similar to the robbrown way but leave the bottom slot on the blade rounded instead of square. I was told to stop stress risers. I also make the slot slightly smaller than the bar stock size of the guard so you can drive the bottom into the slot to make sure there are no gaps. Mike
