Received The Helix Combat in OD Green with the aluminum handle. I like a lot about this knife, but two things disappoint me. First, I understand the company used red loctite which makes unscrewing the clip and pivot screws very difficult. You would think if a company is going to use red loctite they damn sure better get the blade centering right. Mine is off centered just enough to be noticeable. So . . . . I need to center the blade myself but . . . will I damage or strip the screws? I know I can probably send it back to the manufacturer, but hell . . . I waited three weeks to get the knife. Bummer. I have a red Nano Helix coming in next week. Hope it doesn’t have the same problem. If so, they will both go back. Hoped for better QC from this manufacturer.

Follow up: I contacted a nice gent at the manufacturer. He said most of the frame screws are not loctited. Only the pivot and clip screws have red loctite. The other frame screws have NO loctite. He offered to repair the knife under warranty and ship it back to me with them eating the shipping cost. Good conversation. I’m going to await receipt of my incoming Helix Nano next Monday and see if it has the same problem. Meanwhile, I am really enjoying several good features of this folder. Opening/closing action is terrific. Blade literally closes on its own. Fit and finish is top quality. Everything good except the blade centering.

Red Nano arrived. First impression: beautiful knife and a joy to hold and handle. Perfect size too. Same issues with the red loctite and pivot screw though. Also, the flipper tab is tiny and a bit sharp. Had to file off some sharp edges, but better now. All in all both these aluminum knives are beautiful, ergonomically comfortable with terrific flipping action. Glad I bought them, but wish they hadn’t used the red loctite and goofy pivot screw requiring the special tool. 4.5 stars.
