Hi guys-

I like to make one like this without a guard every now and again. My Dad is an elk hunt'n fool, and I had a hard time getting this one away from him ;) :)

Blade was forged from random pattern 1084/15N20 (I ground some shallow, half-width grooves in the blade during the forging process to get a bit of a laddered edge), 416 bolster, Ironwood burl handle with top and bottom facets, and domed 416 pin. Sheath is hand saddle-stitched heavy, tooled leather. All work done by me.

OAL- 7-1/8"
Blade- 3"L x 7/8"W x 0.150" thick at ricasso

Looks like this one is sold :) $475shipped in the states, and happy to discuss int'l shipping if needed :)

Check, mo, paypal, cash... ;) My pp addy is merckman99 at yahoo daught com

Very nice Nick, but................I'm totally with your dad on this one, be it for deer or elk! Maybe it's only us more 'senior' WA state elk hunters that have this issue..........(Bellingham)........:).

I own many custom hunting/skinning knives and only one has a guard.

Perhap's it's an 'ole dogs, new tricks' deal, but I personally have no need/desire for guards on hunting knives.

Nonetheless.......a very nice offering. I'm a huge DIW fan and those scales and sheath are outstanding.

Very nice looking knife. I have one of similar design (in D2) by David Winston and everybody tries to make off with it.

Thank you guys! :)

Jon- I tried to reply bud, I think/hope the pm went through... Either way--- Yes, and THANK YOU!!! :D

RR- I harden and temper my small blades to a pretty high hardness since they are intended for detail work and slicing. This particular blade Rc'd at 61/62 C.

Thanks fellas! :)
