While waiting on my next shipment of steel from Aldo, I got the idea for a Bowie stuck in my head. Well, the only steel I had was some old farriers' rasps that have been laying around for awhile, and this is what came of it.

Instead of the typical grind and shape some fellows do on rasps, this one was forged to shape all the way.

The blade is 5 1/2" long, and 1/4" at the ricasso with Fiji Orangewood handle scales, OAL is 11 1/4"s. The fit in hand is like a glove, so I see why the ABS guys like this handle shape over others.

There's something about a rasp that's been flat ground, just makes me go Ooooh.

I'm asking $Sold for this one, no sheath, includes shipping in the CONUS, international extra.
Thanks for looking, Charles.

Thanks, the only reason it didn't go with a guard was because I went the full tang route, instead of a more traditional hidden/frame handle.Otherwise, a low profile guard might really help kick it off.
This knife is awesome! If it had a guard I would be all over it.

I got a nice little skinner from nighthaxan which I was very pleased with, he does nice work. I do have a question about the dimensions though. According to what you say and my math, it comes out that the handle is longer than the blade (11.25-5.50=5.75", and from the photos it looks to me that the blade is longer than the handle? John

Hi John, I'll clear up some of the number confusion. The 5 1/2" blade length is only the cutting edge, not including choil area, which would bring the exposed blade up to 6 1/4"s total, with a 5" handle.
