Guards and bolster guards

I looked up suppliers to find guards to purchase. With the 2 piece bolster guards it seems there would be a gap between the bolster guards when assembled to a full tang . The tang does not fill the space. It would look odd. How do I approach this. Tyb

That kind of bolster has to match the shape of your blade, or close, and ground to match.

would the flats of the bolster going on the tang need to be sanded so the guards will touch closing the space?? TYB

No, its like a sandwich [bolster]+[blade]+[bolster]. That type isn't meant to surround the blade, just placed on either side of a full tang blade, typically.

The bolsters are precut/drilled to match the blank. Look at how they match the contour of the blank.
