I watch knife videos all the time now. Constantly think about what my next knife will be and look at guides on sharpening. I am seriously considering a BM 940 with carbon scales or the nakamura with carbon scales. Hard decision :(

Third on the 940, I think mine is great.
Of course you've got the bug, :D you're here aren't you

No bug. No post. I know the BM940 is a good knife. If possible I would handle both in a store.

Yeah, it definitely is a bug, sickness or disease.

I can't speak to the 940, but I did pick up a 950 Rift and that thing is a fantastic knife.

Knife collecting is a popular hobby but I don't think it's going to last, I've only been at it for a little while and am beginning to get bored with it.....

NOT!!!

Jk, my best advice to you is 1) buy what you like, 2) don't collect for investment is hard to profit on knives, sometimes you get lucky but always remember rule #1 and you always at the very least have a knife you like and most likely use.
Finally 3) pick an overall direction for your collection, don't become an accumulator unless you want boxes of knives that are totally unrelated other than the fact that they ask have at least one sharpenable edge.

940s are great! I suggest you pick up an Opinel to practice sharpening on too

Both are decent knives. Cannot go wrong either way. You will buy others later...from other makers, and figure out what you like.

The 940-1 just ices the cake a little sweeter for me then the original 940. Those CF scales and blue standoffs just make the knife pop! Also I found that the S90V was forgiving to work with and sharpen as well not to mention the flow through construction for easy cleaning. Weighs very little and just disappears in pocket due to its slim profile.
Yeah... I like this knife a lot.... Along with many many more.

Enjoy the walk down "Knife Knut lane" :D

I agree with the 940-1. The nakamura thumb studs are too long. I only have the regular 940 but with the addition of the cf and s90v it's a solid choice in my book. But about all the knife videos and tinkering; my wife hates when I'm doing it (since its all the time) lol

This is incredibly good advice to follow... If i had done this i would have saved myself an unbelievable amount of money and frustration. Dont buy knives you think you should like just because they are popular. Everyone is different.
