The Knife: 2016 Bladeforums Drover. This was one of the few with a sticky punch. I returned it to GEC for repair shortly after receiving it and they fixed it up real nice. Never used, carried, or sharpened. Tube included.

The Contest: Guess the current mileage on my car. Rules, clues, and important information below.

CLUES:
My car is a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. I bought it used on 3/5/13. It had 75,427 miles on it when I drove it off the lot.

I live 3.8 miles from work and I work 5 days a week. I might work one or two Saturdays a year but that’s it. I never work on Sundays. I almost always leave work on my lunch break.

When Renee and I take vacations or long drives we usually take her car but sometimes we take mine. The longest trip we’ve taken in my car was about 520 miles round trip. You don’t get to know how many times we took that trip in my car but it was more than once.

I used to own a motorcycle. I sold it 5 ½ months after I bought this car. During those 5 ½ months, when Renee and I took long trips, we usually rode the bike but not always. I also rode my bike to work a lot during that time.

The winning number (my current odometer reading) consists of 6 digits.

I already have a photo of my current odometer reading so the winning number is already chosen. I took the photo yesterday and one of our moderators has a copy of it.

RULES: Please read carefully as I will be strict about this.
1. You must have at least 50 posts in the Traditionals sub forum to win.

2. Each qualifying member can submit up to 3 guesses per post.

3. One guess submission per day by the date stamp on your posts. You don’t have to wait 24 hours to guess again but the winning guess must be on a different day than your last guess submission. If you do submit guesses more than once per day, only your first guesses for that day will count.

All members are welcome to comment without guessing should the mood strike you.

No geographical restrictions. If you live in Katmandu I’ll ship the knife to you if you win.

I’ll let the contest run for 10 days and I’ll announce the winner sometime on 9/3/17. The winning post will be the closest number to my exact mileage without going over unless somebody gets it exactly right before then. When I announce the winner, I will post the picture of my odometer reading that I took yesterday.

I will be watching for a winner but I will not be policing the thread. When I determine that we have a winner, then and only then will I check to see if that member followed the rules above. I don't want to tell anyone that they would have won if they had followed the rules but again, I will be strict about this. In the unlikely event that that happens, I will move on to the next closest guess without going over. I apologize for being such a stickler but I fear that this contest might get away from me if I don’t set some strict guidelines.

Right now I can’t think of any additional clues that wouldn’t make my mileage too easy to guess but if I do think of some more clues I will post them as a reply to this thread.

Good luck to all contestants and thank you so much for participating!

Thanks for the chance, and a very interesting one at that (I never could resist guessing how many jelly beans were in the jar either ;) )

I started doing the math, but none of my answers got to six digits, so I'm going with the Price is Right technique... 100,000 miles Bob (or Drew if you're still watching it) :D

I spent way too much time doing math at 5:45am only to take a total and complete stab in the dark... 111,111.

Thanks for the opportunity and the chuckle. I can't wait to read the other responses to this thread.

Edit- The Fort beat me by 1 minute! I'll Price is Right him, though: 111,112. :D

Wow. Just wow.

Sorry to ask here: can anyone tell me how to check one's post count in a subforum? I sure would like to join this GAW.
