This was the First Knife made by a pretty famous maker.
Would you care to guess who made it?

Kelly,
I have been fortunate enough to hold Steve's first knife and that isn't it

Looks like a Herron to me...I say GenO.

It might be GenO's, but it wouldn't be because of George's influence on him. GenO was making and selling knives before he ever met George. I'll guess George himself.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the Munster made that one.

Nice to see it. Is it mine now?

Yeah, you're probably right. That was my third guess. Really it was.

Para, thanks for killing another thread.
Do me a favor, in the future if you see one of my threads, don't post on it.
I don't know how you knew it was Tim Herman's First Knife, but I doubt it was a guess? If it wasn't a guess, then you just killed what could have been an interesting thread. Chalk up another one.

Phil, I'm sorry. Yes, it was a guess, I have never seen the knife (thanks for sharing). However, I did know Tim's first was a fixed blade. And the engraving sort of gave it away. That and the fact that I know you and Tim exchange a lot of dirty pictures over the internet.

If I had been sure, I would not have posted. Sorry.

I would like to swear that I will never post in another thread of yours. But I have this posting compulsion you see. I think you can understand that

If what you meant was "PRETTY famous maker", the only possible answer would be Audra Draper . . . don't reckon anyone else I've seen at shows would fit the description!

That doesn't sound like a guess to me.

I think the first Rule a Doctor learns is, "...if you can't help, at least do no harm."
I'm sure you can find the full and correct quote. Get yourself a copy!

You didn't see no Smilie Face when I said "Don't post on my threads!" Did ya?

Seriously Phil, it was a guess. Timing of the beginning of Herman's career and a Loveless style knife, along with that interesting little line detail in the butt of the handle were some other tip offs. I am a good guesser but a lousy tactition. Maybe we could just start all over and pretend we don't know?

Paracelsus, never speaking up in a PhilL thread again

Gus, if you're reading this, Please Move this to W&C so I can tell this guy what I really think of him.

Just kidding, Para and I have hashed it out man to man. Or actually Man to Know-it-all, blabber-mouth, long-winded, palaverous, prolix, redundant, verbose, windy, inflated, tumid, glib, loquacious, bombastic, highfalutin, rhetorical, wisenheimer Bastid!

Phil - what are you getting so bent out of shape about???

By the way, thanks for sharing that picture.

Ok guys chill out a little.
To be honest I thought it was a Herron all day, but the handle was not right. I had no idea who munster was until now.

Phil that is way cool thanks. The mans first knife showed a heck of a lot of promise. I am glad to see that he is still reaching.

Life is too ugly to carry a short knife

Para,

Gee Phil is that true about e-mailing dirty filthy pictures back and forth? Cause you sure as hell never sent me any.

Oh yeah it's true! You should see the pic Tim sent me with the title "Barnyard Fun"

Didn't know animals could do that
wink.gif

Boy, this thread went downhill fast. I remembered a thread from a while back where some other makers had shown their first knife. I was on Chat and I asked Tim what his first knife was like and he showed me. I thought the knife was a beauty, but not typical of the kind of work Tim is known for, except for the engraving on the blade. Tim is known for his beautfiul folders, true works of art. It seems like he's come full circle because his latest offering is a fixed blade, "The Wall Street Tactical" which I may be able to offer here for him as soon as the details on the sheath is worked out. I still don't know how many Tim will be making?

Bob, I keep telling you if you ain't in Chat you're going to miss a lot.
