i was sent this a while back for rockwell testing and decided to grind the blade before sending it back. (less weight for return shipping too :D)

That is a really nice grind you put on there. The "bullnose" style blades have a tremendous amount of ability and usability. I love that design. Too bad they are not more popular.

twinblade, can you guess who's blank that is?

No sir I cannot. Too many good makers out there that would put out a style like that. I am bursting with curiosity...how about a hint on steel and rockwell...that may narrow the gap a bit. :D

the blade is 1095 and rockwelled at 63 if i remember right. rather than send the blank back i ground it for the owner. i'll reheat treat the blade like i do mine and i hope it performs like mine when its done. i put a half convex chisel grind on the blade. i like the way the grind turned out. that picture doesnt show the grind line along the spine which really is neat. i might make a few but with a full convex grind just to see how they work out.

i asked and he had no problem with me grinding the blank for him. it will be his personal knife. he seen some pictures and liked what i had done. it only took me about 10-15 minutes to grind the blade. it will be sweet when he gets some scales on it.

1095 @ 63? Whew...good luck drilling that for pins. :D

I am at a loss bro. Great steel, I just don't know who HT it to that high Rc.

not at all. i use a disc sander to rough it in and finish up on my belt sander. the steel i use is already fairly hard when i start. i have to get my blanks cut with a plasma torch. i use cultivator discs that are made from 1075 and around 56rc.

Thickness? That does not seem to be a type of grind/edge I would seek in a working knife. Maybe for one handed uses, or slicing ham.

So, is this one of our regular W&SS makers? Otherwise, I'm not really sure how this fits in this particular subforum... :p
