Guesses to what it could be?

Hmmm interesting call on the lock - I had thought it was going to be an auto but the lock is a good call....and I would be interested in a new lock, but not an auto, so good news for me.

I'm also puzzled that the framelocks weren't selling. The only thing I can think of is that Emersons are at a great price point right now - you know you're getting quality, but it's not so expensive that you baby the knife...maybe the LL keeps this balance a little more.

The problem with the framelocks were the price. They weren't honestly a good value compared to the regular knives. The HD7 uses the exact same 154cm steel as the CQC7 and it has the g10 scale, the difference was in one side being titanium and no liners on the G10 side and the price increased by over $150 over the CQC7

You could get a Benchmade mini skirmish with s30v steel and all titanium handles for $150 total. When you see the HD7 for $270 you have second thoughts.

Of course. But I think my main point is that the cqc7 is only around $100 and a hell of a great knife, people just didn't see one side being replaced by titanium worth $150 extra.

As for Striders...you can't really include them in any discussion regarding good value.

You're right on both counts.:D

I know it is expensive to run a business but....how many FL's would have sold at a lower price??

They're a better value than a Strider, that's for sure.

That I have to agree with, I was not impressed with the Striders I had, fixed or folding.

IMO the 12s and HD-7s are defo. better knives in every way but each to their own :)

Hmm

This clue doesn't provide too much information (unless I'm missing something?)

From the site:

8. It says Emerson CQC on it.

Exactly. The cqc7 had a reputation for being tough. Many people just couldn't see a reason to spend the extra money for something tougher than tough. Also, I think many knife buyers don't understand the difference between the liner lock and a frame lock. They think they are paying all that extra money for a knife with the G10 missing on one side. Doesn't make sense to them.
