Weeeeell . . . . your not going to be happy!
Ya' shoulda been there!
Ernie out did himself for the Guild Show. The selection was unbelievable!
"Family Emerson" was in full attendance, including young Lucas . . Future Knifemaker.
Lucas is a handsome devil and he was sporting a "Bob Loveless" style cap.
I met up with Joel and Cal in the lobby waiting for the doors to open and when they did, we made a bee line for the back corner. On the table were:
Talk about a haul!
But wait. Turns out they had some more stashed under the table as well!
(Approximate totals)
(I did take a new 35mm and will post the pictures when I get them back later. It's the first time I used the camera, so no promises)
As if that wasn't bad enough (for you guys), let me also point out . . . most of the knives are ZERO GROUND! The exception being the Black-T coated Neck Knives. Zero ground FIVES, SIXES, NINES, VIPERS and all the fixed blades!
The doors opened at 1000 and the drawing was at 1300. Time seemed to d-r-a-g waiting for the next name to be pulled.
People sweating, trying to look cool and collected, (a;most) patiently) waiting for thier name to be pulled. At one point I swore Joel had taken my card out of the hat to better his odds!
Joel and Maria scored a CQC9 (ANOTHER ONE!) and a Viper 2 as I recall
Cal, Shirley and a friend of Cal's, Jim, got the Warrior, the Phaser and the Lefty CQC6 (Bastids)
Bob Doggett scored one of the CQC5s
A brand spankin new 2001 CQC6 and a large, Tanto Neck Knife went home in my bag.
Dealers did well for them selves too. Karen and Jay Sadow from Arizona Custom Knives got several Vipers as I recall. Bob Neal got several knives. Larry from Knife Art got one (I don't recall which one, sorry). (Let the emailing begin)
Probably like a third of the cards pulled belonged to people that dropped a card in the hat, but didn't show for the drawing. (Their loss) As Bob Doggett mentioned, Ernie brought enough knives that there were actually two Viper MV1s left when the cards ran out. (Bob Neal and Karen Sadow snatched those up before you could blink an eye!)
All in all, a great day looking at hundreds of makers wares and "Talkin' Knives" with like minded people.
Ernie, Mary, Joel, Maria, Cal, Shirley, Bob . . . great seeing ya'll again!
