Guilty Pleasures

I bought a $13 (shipped) "samurai" sword years ago. Blue fabric-covered sheath. A real stunner. I'm talkin HANDSOME. While having drinks a friend took it to an old upholstered chair we had on the back porch. He gave it one single powerful thrust. The blade bent 90º over bc the weave/fabric of the old chair had more integrity than the steel used to make this monstrosity. My "passion for swords" waned considerably at witnessing this eyesore. But its still in a box somewhere. I'll have to dress up as a Japanese Don Quixote for Halloween.

Well, I guess I have two guilty pleasures. The Cutco and the CRKT M16-02. I carried CRKT junk through most of my military years. I worked with Combat Engineers and they can be hard on a knife. Abusing a knife is almost a science with some of them.

You guys are right, the steel is poor and the lock up has much to be desired. I replaced half of mine due to lock up issues. I have purchased more of the M16 series than any other knife. I still have one and find it in my hand quite often. It is within arms reach right now.

It worked for me. Yeah, chisel grinds suck, but I beat the crap out of that thing and it's still ticking. It was the coolest knife I ever had for a long time. My grandpa had given me a nice Spyderco when I was 8 or 9 and I promptly lost it, so after that I stayed away from nicer knives. The M16 was the most expensive knife I had ever bought when I got it!

So yeah, it's somewhat of a crappy knife, but it holds a lot of sentimental value for me.

Too funny. I have one of these two and I actually sharpened a bevel on the previously flat chisel side. Its not even at all, and the serrations are all chipped up. I do still have it though.

My $5 Express machete.
This thing flies through saplings like a freaking lightsabre with a crappy sharpening job.
I think I could cut a brick wall down if I sharpened it right.

The middle one was one of my first folders..... I actually loved it I didn't know any better. One day I dropped it and the pivot screw snapped. It had been going strong for a year though.

I still have the blade... And much better taste now haha

Here's my guilty pleasure... I still enjoy browsing tables of cheap flea market knives and once in awhile I'll buy one.

Confessing is so cleansing, so I'll admit to another... I enjoy browsing BudK catalogs. :)

Guilty pleasures..... hmmm

I watch nutnfancy videos with the lights off and a three gallon jug of ky + tissues on my desk.

I think his jimping modifications are tasteful and necessary on the knives he puts them on and would love to have one.

Boker Plus Tom Krein Pocket Bowie. The best Chinese Boker you can buy. 440C and 3D G10 scales for all for under $30.

I have a kissing cranes stiletto that I bought when I was 13. I carried it everywhere with me and used the hell out of it until I was 21. I replaced it with a SOG tomcat. I wouldn't whip it out and brag on it to a friend, but I still carry it sometimes. It's just old skool cool.

My guilty pleasure was my Cold Steel Spartan. I carried it a solid year and abused the heck out of it when I had a job pouring concrete. If that made me a mall ninja, then a mall ninja be I!

I use a 9" über-cheap Chinese flea market bowie as a trowel while metal detecting. You know, the ones you can identify the plastic stag horn scales at 50 paces. :barf:

I have a few knives I wouldn't show off but I enjoy them and that's what it's all about. I've got one of those bali-utility knives that I love I've got a united cutlery delta defender that I sit and spin like some b movie bad guy and then there's the mtech Daryl Ralph Maxx clone I use to open my mail. I also just ordered one of those Sweeny Todd razors for 7bux jus cause. What can I say sometimes I just enjoy the cheapies.

LOL! That's Too Much Information.

Not really sure how to respond or if I even want to.

OK, I'll play. For me, an Okapi or CS Kudu get used far out of proportion to their worth. I use the Kudu for things that I wouldn't dream of using my other knives for and enjoy it to boot.
