Hey guys

I have just sumbled back to the world of playing the guitar, I played bass for about 10 years and put it on the back burner to get the family/knifemaking thing going so after 7 years I picked up a B.C. Rich Warlock, ( yup I play metal) its one of there bronze series(made in China) but it will get me back playing , I just picked up a line6 pocket pod to play through, its not bad but far from a Marshall 1/2 stack, upside is the neighbours don't complain.

My last bass was a U.S. Fender Jazz in olympic white with a tortoise shell pick guard, I also had a Mexician Fender Jazz 5 string and a B.C. Rich mocking bird that I had a guy make fretless. Played them through a Ampeg B-3

I am looking at getting an accustic for around the camp fire and such and one day upgrading to a U.S. made BC rich or a Gibson SG who knows.

I know there are some pickers and grinners around here so lets see what you got or at least tell us..

nothing special really... an old American Standard sunburst Strat with Texas Special pickups... circa 1983. I'll take a picture tomorrow maybe.

I play metal too, so the Texas Specials aren't the best pickups for me, but they sound amazing through a clean channel with a bit of reverb.

I have a Sand Dimas 80's vintage Charvel. I also had a USA Jackson soloist but I sold it a few years back with my Marshall half stack. The Soloist was redundant, and the Marshall was too big and loud for in the house, and my band days were over.
Lately though Im really thinking about a nice smaller sized Marshall or Randall just so I can play with an amp again. Playing guitar is a good stress reliever for me, and I miss playing electric. I have an Ovation acoustic/electric that is great for around the camp fire or at the beach. Its a great little guitar, and Its almost as easy to play as an electric even on lead stuff.

BTW a great deal in guitars are the ESP's. They are very close to the USA Charvels, and Jacksons for quite a bit less.. George Lynch sure plays the hell out of them;-)

Ibanez RG2EX2 (trying to get rid of this one for a RG5xx) and an RT150. Play out of a Peavey 5150 212. Trying to get a Mesa F30.

No pics of the RG2 D:

I was "collecting" while I was learning to play, but I developed some nerve problem in my frettiing hand and some real estate problems in my financial hand..lol. I just sold a pile of guitars, including 4 Art and Historic Les Pauls.....'59, '58 bursts, 57 goldtop and 54 black beauty........a Firebird and 3 Fenders....1994 '54 Strat RI, 52 Tele RI and 51 Nocaster RI, along with my Martin HD28V. My Fender tweed Twin Ri, 50 watt hand wired Marshall Plexi RI and real blackface 1966 Vibrolux went away too. All I have left now is an older '62 Strat RI with Fralin pickups, a heavily upgraded early model Mexican Tele, a little early 60's LG series Gibson acoustic that I have owned since around 1978, a Deluxe
Reverb RI and an 18 watt Marshall clone.

I have a Mitchell dreadnaught-sized acoustic (with built in pickup). An entry-level axe to be sure (200 bucks) but I was pleasantly surprised by this instrument's fit, finish, and playability. Not bad at all; sounded better (and was better finished) than the Fender dreadnaught for the same price.

However, it's been sitting in it's case for some weeks while I've been having fun playing my home-made instruments. I've already posted pics of my current cigar-box guitar on another thread. Getting quite handy with the slide, I am...

But not to be idle, I've also built a banjo:

ry%3D320

Not exactly a traditional banjo; it has a plywood top, and the "pot is constructed from a chunk of PVC sewer pipe. However, the neck is built to the same profile as a classic Gibson neck, and it's quite playable and sounds good too.

I own this one.

Obviously, I need a haircut, though. ;) :D

Seriously, I do have one of those Dean Dimebag Flame guitars. It's a LOT better guitar than I'm capable of making it sound.

I'm a fan of the Pitchblack... Only true bypass tuner out there, for some reason. If I had that RG...My life would be complete. What kinda cables are those? They look expensive, lol. EMG's on both Deans?

Ibanex GAX-75 for me.

Heavy as anything but I'm not worried about it ever breaking down. Plus it has one of those Dtuning devices on it that I use quite often (to put the Low E into a D quickly)

As for campfire guitars:

I love my Takamine G-240 it cost me around €135 and sounds better than most €1000 guitars I've heard.

Play a Line6 Spider III for an amp and that pretty much has all the effects I need built in.

Some good looking stuff guys, I just picked up a new well new to me accustic,I got a Yamaha F-130 with case for 60 bucks, this thing might as well be brand new, I found on a local classified ad site, they guys daughter bought three months ago and lost intrest and needed 60 buck for registration for something else,

I've also got an f130. It's a lotta guitar for the price.

I've got a 74 Musicmaster bass that I bought for $80 back in 1988 from my sister's then boyfriend. It's currently sitting in pieces awaiting a complete overhaul/rebuild. Resale value is shot so I'm making it into a player. I also a Yamaha BB300 bass that my dad bought for my 15th birthday.

Yeah, the Pitchblack is a great tuner, much more accurate than the Boss TU-2. Thanks for the comment on the RG, I love that guitar. Me and my friend worked on that one together.

The cables on the board are custom made Mogami 2524's, with G&L gold plugs. I run the same cable from my guitar to the board (when not using wireless), and the board to the amp. Not super expensive, but not cheap either.

The Dean Evo XM has Seymour Duncan Blackouts, and the Hardtail has an EMG 85/60A.

All that fancy electronics pale before the mighty....

Honeytone!

Actually, a pretty nasty sounding little amp for 20 bucks!

I have some acoustics, a 12-stringer, banjo, ukulele, a korean Warlock replica and this:
bassar_small.jpg

A larger pic
My pride and joy, a fretless warwick corvette, and a remarkably good late 80's cheapo. The bartolini pickups cost 2x what the bass itself cost :)
hello_small.jpg

No, I have no excuses for the strings.

I play a '68 Fender Mustang that has been around the block waaaaaay too many times. I use heavy strings (.11 or .12) and it plays so easily with the short scale. Sounds good too, even if vintage officionados don't care for the pickups.

IMG_1124.jpg

Here's what I mean about it going around the block. I've gotta get a fretjob one of these years.:o

IMG_1116.jpg

I also love fixer-uppers like this late '60s Harmony that I'm slapping a new fingerboard on.

IMG_1759.jpg

Or this banjo-mandolin I got for $5.

Max602.jpg

I'm also slowly putting together a simplified Marshall 18 watt amp and build effects pedals like this Uglyface clone with the big knob positioned so that I can make Defender/laser beam sounds with my foot.:D
