Hello friends from the Porch,

I've found a good occasion for a new GAW.
It's a Massu also called Alsacien or Alsa made by Arto from Thiers.
The blade is in 12C27 inox and the handle in ram horn.
A good strong pocket knife.
Here you will find the story of this knife :

Let's play ! Here are the rules :
- It's open to the new members , only 10 posts are needed
- Just write I'm in and ...
- Put on you message a picture of what you can see from your windows.

I explain my the idea. I'm a geographer and I love to discover other landscapes. It's not a question of beauty. All the landscapes are interesting because they show human activities. So please don't think "well, I live in an ugly place or uninteresting area" , etc. That's wrong ;-)
I live myself in front of a mid-rang hotel not very beautiful. BUT a lot of tourists walk in my street, coming from the US or many other countries and I can imagine their pleasure to visit Paris and to go back with a lot of great memories in mind .

Monday 5 I will use this website to draw the winner because every landscapes are interesting ;) : https://plouf-plouf.fr/

Here is the gift :

I'm in.
Thanks for the generous giveaway of a beautiful knife.
This is my backyard from my computer desk.
D96hXxJ.jpg

Overgrown apple tree to the right, wild cherries to the left, with what I think is a pine rather than a spruce in the left foreground. Immediate foreground is some wild grapevines I've tried to poison, but steel is the only language they understand.

What a wonderful little knife! I'm in.
I'm in my workshop in an old industrial part of town, and out my window I can see the weed-choked and rusted rails of the Norfolk-Southern line. They are a wide and sere scar through the city; an anti-river. The detritus of torn plastic bags and broken bottles lines the sides of the cut like a high-water mark; a point where footsteps wander down and peter out among the trackless gravel, through torn and cut hurricane fences and bent Private Property signs, oxidized by time and disuse until a deep patina of inertia and stillness pervades them. Meanwhile, a different dust settles on my tools and my work inside, the dust of agitation and production, the impossibility of stillness and the frantic relocation of removed particles, each layer a tiny strata of my progress.

Thank you for the chance.
Great gaw and knife!
Our backyard view from our bedroom window back in 2008 as I had just finished building “Esperanza” … a boat that over the years has helped opened up many more windows into beautiful nature scenes

I'm not in - I've been around too long!!!
But; Great Giveaway, Jean-Marc!!! Nice knife!!
As an antidote to the summer's heat, here is a picture out my front door, in 2021!!!
You can see that we are close to the sidewalk and street, and to our neighbors, beyond the apple tree!!
Watching people walk by is a favorite pastime of mine.
My old fashioned landline overlooks thus view, so that is what I see when I am chatting on the phone!!

I live in the country just outside a small town in Northern California... Some of our locals...

Pretty much my view from any window. We live next to a creek that is taken over by berry bushes on one side, and surrounded by Oak Trees.

IN !!! ... I have nothing in that pattern nor a single ram horn in my collection 😲
Thank you for the opportunity of a chance in your selfless and most generous GAW. Very Nice

My humble and simple 1945 cottage and grounds during complete gut, renovations and upgrades in 2005 ...

Just today 2022. Still have the same Jeep as so long ago. Couple of minor changes (roof & porch) and a few trees gone ...

Life is simple and good in retirement. A humble space no larger than many apartments but adequate for a single old guy and a dog :)

That is outstanding looks like a lovely place to live.

youve even got a porch something besides a garage I have always wanted.

Thank you !!! :)
By the time all renovations and upgrades were done, it was virtually a new home and bought for a song.
Because it is small, monthly utilities are very low and insurance is cheap.
Therefore, I haven't had to work a single day since retiring in 2006 at the age of 53 !!! ... and 16yrs later, I'm officially and U.S. government certified retired LOL

Holy Moly!!! You are very fortunate!
I've got too many kids and grandkids for that! I retired at 70!! 😲

Indeed Very fortunate and Most blessed ... although I kind of regret never having kids and grandkids ... sometimes.
I swore I'd never work for someone else ever again in my life when I retired from the military in 2006, and I haven't.

A good military pension is a good thing!!
Self-employed most of my life!! Self-pensioning can be a little tough!!
One stint in the Army was enough for me!!!

I'm retired Navy but chose to live near military in retirement for the use of military retirement benefits.
Ft. Rucker, Army Aviation Post is just outside of town. I'm kinda out numbered around here 🤣 ... Hoo-Ah
