I have a local vendor who will sell me 5 gallons of gulf super quench 70 for a reasonable price.. Has any one here used it ?? I work with 5160,1095,1084,O1 and ball pein hammers (for tomahawks). I have been using ATF heated to 130 degrees. The vendor stated that this is a "fast" oil.. Soon I will be using mostly 1084, 1095 and the hammers (S7?) Is this oil appropriate?? Thanks for any help.

Thanks Mark but I found that one already...I am hoping that someone here is using it and can give me a review of sorts...

Wow, that was underwhelming !! Well I bought it anyway and hope to do some testing soon..According to the spec sheet it is formulated for high carbon/ low alloy steels, 1084 & 1095 would fall into that catagory. We shall see how it does with the 5160 and O1 as well.

WOW
Where have all the experts gone?
I think you have stumped the forum.
Sounds like a product i might try.
What kind of place did you buy it from?
Take care
TJ

TJ, I picked it up from a local oil distriution company in my town. They supply oil/lubricants and a few other products to local buisnesses...The name of the company is G.H. Berlin oil company. They take walk ins as well as deliver. The total cost for 5 gallons of gulf super quench 70 was 47.34 and that includes nearly 6.00 in taxes.. I saved a lot by picking it up locally as opposed to having it shipped from somewhere. I hope to try it out soon..

You are in good hands. I am pretty sure Jerry Fisk and Tim Potier, among others, use or have used this product with good results.
