I keep going back and back to this thread. I'm deffinately in the market for a 14, and this one sealed the deal!

That looks awesome, I bet it will improve the slicing with the smooth blued finish it must have less drag than the powder coat. I tried to cold blue an old remington shotgun once and it did not end well. I was thinking about stripping a few of mine getting them hot blued for that real shiny gunmetal blue, but have not done it yet. maybe I will try the cold blue first I can always get it hot blued if it doesn't turn out as good as yours.

I had a bunch of old jewelers files laying around. I started with the small half round file and used the edge to file a small groove on each of the 1/8" spaces. Once it was deep enough into the metal I switched to a very small round file. Then after the round grooves were pretty established, I switched to a larger round file, and continued filing until I felt they were deep enough. I then finished each groove with a little bit of 45 degree filing on each groove to give it a more finished look.

Like I mentioned in my post, it is best to do your jimping before you strip. This way you can score the paint for each groove, and it is easier to see if your grooves are even with the contrast of black and silver.
