Gun for bear...is it big enough?

i must mention, there are some nasty .12 ga hollow point slugs that are pretty high tech and might do the trick against a big animal...

i however was using Brenneke sabots and they didn't really do much other than overpenetrate, shots were at around 25 - 30 yards

I never really thought about shotguns...

I rarely ever even shoot shotguns, they just aren't my cup of tea I guess.

P.S. Great hog! I really want to go on a hug hunt.

Took 2 with my Rem. untra mag. 190 grain hand loaded nos. partition tip , way much for bear , And most African game too..
yours will do it shot placement first , or yep a pissed off bear..They run fast ,and there thick so a shoulder shot would suck for [most cals.] never tracked one seen both from my shot..

or just get a .35 Remington or higher and be done with it. what kind of distances are we talking? long range dont use the 7-08. our distances in the swamps of NC are VERY short. like 1-30yds. in those cases i use either my 12 gauge in 3inch mag or my .35 Remmy 336. distances of 30-90yds i use the .35 or the 30-06

Marlin 1895G in .45-70. That should deal with black, brown, grizzly, Kodiak situations. :-)

One of the guys who works on my Dad's farm just took a huge moose up in Maine with a 7mm. One shot, dropped it like a sack of potatoes. If you do your part, 7mm should be just fine on black bears.
