Gun Free Zones ->> Knife Free Zones - NJ UPDATE

When people vote for the sort of despots that would defy our Constitution and attack the law abiding gun owners of this nation, why would it come as a surprise that those same despots also want to deprive us of other freedoms? Guns aren't your thing and knives are - fine. Freedom is freedom and if we aid tyrants when they deprive others of their freedoms, who will be there to help when the tyrants come for ours?

The majority of both democrats and republicans support the second amendment and believe everybody has the right to carry (being it a gun or knife) anything within reason. You cannot say your freedoms are being stolen when only the outliers are being banned (think assault weapons and huge knives). The big thing that needs to be addressed is that a knife IS NOT more dangerous than a gun. Carrying a handgun is legal almost everywhere, but many kinds of knives are widely banned. Even in most of the "republican" states, there are heavy restrictions on knives, be it length, opening mechanism, whatnot.

Knives are tools first, weapons second, yet they are more widely banned than something that is a weapon first... and nothing else, only a weapon. I don't mean to sound political, but you can't say freedoms are being taken now when many of the things in question (*ahem* automatic knives) were outlawed widely a long time ago.

Sure we can; it's accurate. Just because a freedom was denied long ago doesn't negate more freedom from being taken now.

You aren't losing freedom now so much as the government trying to stop idiots. The new gun laws and whatnot are basically speed limits being added to the knife and gun world. Yes, you are losing the freedoms to carry and own anything, but don't blame the politicians, blame the idiots that prompted these changes to be made.

Idiots like you're talking about are nothing new, it's just that now we have the technology to turn them into celebrities.

We aren't losing freedom but we are losing freedoms? Alrighty then!

I blame anyone who thinks it is ok to punish me for someone else's shortcomings. I don't keep my daughter off the internet because my son looks at porn. I don't take away employee A's key to the store because employee B stole. I don't want my knives or guns, ANY OF THEM, taken away because some asshole can't behave.

Most cops and self defense experts disagree with you, if the person with the knife is within 10 ft. Also, I don't think most republicans support banning any of this stuff, with all these railroaded, steamroller, ridiculous democrat majority laws.

My 2 cents, do not wish to have an inflammatory debate.

Idiots aren't the problem. It's a few crazy people, and criminals. Two types of people that these new laws will do nothing for. The politicians aren't trying to stop anything. They are pushing an agenda they have had for a long time, and are merely looking to disarm the public.

My 2 cents, do not wish to have an inflammatory debate.

No, No, I can blame the Idiots that are passing these laws! My neighbor bought a Corvette. Fast. He wrapped around a tree and died. 100+ miles an hour. I would have been just as annoyed if they had tried to ban Corvette's. Or cars that go over 100 mph. When we already have laws that say that 100+ is already illegal. Also it is against the law to drive without your seat belt (which he was also doing). On top of that, it is illegal to drive all high on drugs (which he also did).

Banning guns because a few individuals use them for crime is like banning cars that drive over 75 miles an hour. Only police cars and military cars and cars for politicians should be able to drive over 75 miles an hour. Corvettes (and any other sports cars) should be illegal. No new cars should be allowed to go over 75 miles an hour. All old cars that can go over 75mph should be registered, and rendered unable to go over 75 mph. In fact, getting from 0 to 75 mph too quickly is also dangerous. All cars that can reach 75 miles an hour faster than 30 seconds should be banned.

It never stops. Now, in free countries like England, they are trying to ban knives with points (as commonly found in kitchens the world over. The literally considered legislation to ban pointy knives, even in kitchens!

Madness!

So, yes, when I hear a politician say they want to take my property, and severely limit my God given rights, because a few have misused those rights........Yes, I can get pissed at politicians, and any one who supports such!

QFT.

To everyone who thinks that having more restrictions on guns will lower gun crime -- illegal acts involving a gun committed by people who are incidentally already breaking a law even if guns weren't involved -- think again. Nobody calls for restrictions on purchasing sports cars just because some drunk idiot kills 2 people while speeding in his Lamborghini.

While a ridiculous statement, it sums up the anti freedom crowd quite well. Based entirely off of emotion and void of any shred of logic.

First of all, a criminal doesn't care if a zone is a gun free zone. If they intend to kill people they just don't care. It won't stop them. If a person is not intent in causing harm, then who cares if they're carrying a weapon any way?

You can't argue with liberalism. It's a mental disease.

If someone wants to come into my childs school carrying a concealed weapon. Great! I'm glad. They are either going to kill kids, in which case banning the gun doesn't matter, or they will be there to stop the idiot who does want to kill kids. It's win win.

More guns really does equal less crime. Or knives. It's been proven over, and over, and over, and over again. Study, after study, after study.

But the left doesn't care because liberalism is a mental disease.

It isn't a dnc vs gop thing and when some tyrant tramples on my Constitution to any degree - including what these despots pretend are assault weapons - then I absolutely will point out that our freedoms are being infringed. People need to wise up and stop tolerating fascists in either party.
