Gun question

Good choice on caliber. I also own a Sig 220 and it is a great handgun. High quality, accuracy, and reliability out the box. Since it is an alloy frame it will help on carry weight. Also the Glocks are great and can withstand any treatment.
It is pretty hard to get a ccw here in Socal or will you carry without. I like the Mad Dog gun gloves, they are durable and secure. I have an old Desantis in leather that is very minimal and my favorite. Also have a Galco SOB and Jackass rig that is nice.
Why do you want to purchase outside of Calif when you can purchase it here? If not in stock you can just do a special order. Turners True Outdoorsman's is about the only place left in Socal and they only charge $50.00 for a receving a transfer. However you would still pay for dros and whatever the dealer shipping cost is.
If you get the Sig make sure you get the factory nightsights, they are as good as gold. And if this is your carry piece might as well go for the K kote. This is an extremely tough finish that will protect you firearm. Remember you get what you pay for. If you only are going to get 1 auto then make it a 1911. Once you start off with an auto you will probably get another. This should be a 1911. You can do so much with one. You can change calibers with the slide and barrels. You can shoot different competitions(run and gun, target, bullseye). You can switch to a .22 slide or a .223 springfield for hunting. This piece is so universal. But out of the box they need alot of work. 1st reliability package, 2nd usually a different barrel for accuracy or at least a barrel bushing and fitting for a tighter lock up. Also a trigger and trigger job. Sights and grips. The list can go on and on. Sometimes the best thing to do is just by a semi custom or custom. There are quite a few good ones. Check out the Les Bauers :D they are sweet. Some models come with great test targets showing their 1/2" groups. Anyway good luck and have fun shopping.

As per usual, your first guess is usually best. The SIG P220 is an excellent carry gun and is by no means too large or heavy. If you believe that it is, the 245 is also an option.

Concealment is more a function of holster design. I think that you should do what I did and spend billions of dollars trying every fad holster out there so that you can provide your dog with very expensive chew toys. If that doesnt sound like a good idea, try Kramer, Sparks, Rosen, Ky-Tac, or Alessi.

Thank you for all of your responces, the more i look at it the more it looks like the sig 220 will end up on top for the first one. I live in oc and supposedly its not that bad trying to get a permit you just have to be a bit persuasive, i'm prob going to be doing military training soon which should help and also I'm planning on joining the oc sheriff's reserves soon to try to help get a permit. But I will prob end up carrying illegally if I feel I need to carry. but of course i would like my permit:) and the reason I would be transfering in was that the gun would have been a trade. Also my price cap is about 800 or a little less hopefully thanks again

I hear all these horror stories about Colt 1911's not running right out of the box , never had a Colt tank on me. Though a friend did just buy this Armscor medallion...sticker was $750..so far it has been problematic.
Whatever you get...shoot it allot before you carry it.
